Estimate amount of daily waste produced in
Caire : 16000 tons.
6 Zabaleen communities on the outskirt of Cairo.
They recycle about 80 % of the garbage they
collect.
Inhabitant of Garbage City : 70000.
Small family-run recycling enterprises.
Investments in trucks, plastic granulators, paper
compactor, cloth grinders, aluminum smelters and
tin processors.
Collecting garbage door to door and sorting it, task
that takes up to 12 hours a day.
Some granulated plastic is exported to China.
Backed by the Association of Protection of
Environment.
Budget from the UNESCO.
Slowly recognized internationally.
