JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Purpose of the position:

The Reliability Engineer plays a key role in the

Reliability Engineer effective asset management of Ambatovys
production plant. The primary role of the Reliability
Engineer is to assist in identifying and managing
asset reliability risks that could adversely affect
Ambatovys business objectives in his or her
assigned area.
The Reliability Engineer will ensure that the reliability
principles and practices implemented are well
maintained and followed to ensure increased
equipment availability and reduce maintenance
costs.

Reporting relationship:
Location : Toamasina with regular travel to
- Reporting to: Lead Reliability Engineer Moramanga mine site
- Direct Reports: n/a
Special requirements: Fit for work in an industrial
- Dotted Line Relationships: QA/QC

Job context
The key challenges are to operate plant and equipment with a very high degree of reliability and
sustainable maintenance practices to produce nickel beyond design plate capacity at the lowest quartile
cost of production.

The Reliability Engineer under the direction of the Lead Reliability Engineer is to utilize implemented
best practice RCM maintenance strategies through a committed high performance team. This position
imparts influential leadership to the operation and maintenance teams so that the equipment is
operated and maintained with zero harm with a predicted whole of life assisting capital replacement
programs.

To influence the current maintenance management practices across the plant, mines and port from
reactive to predictive nature.
Main Accountabilities

Quality (HSEQ) Policies and associated
documentation.
Ensure that the work is conducted in
compliance with Ambatovy HSEQ
requirements.
Participate in the management of non-
conformances, incident and actions as
required.
Participate in HSEQ audits and inspections as
required.
Support the implementation of agreed HSEQ
improvement initiatives.

identification of the HSEQ risk pertinent to

your work area.
Actively participate at HSEQ meetings and
related initiatives.
Act as directed in an emergency/disaster
situation.
General environmental duty not to carry out
any activity that causes or is likely to cause
environmental harm.
General duty of care to self and others.
Hold team members accountable to
compliance with Ambatovy HSEQ policies,
rules and requirements
Coach team members to better performance
of required HSEQ tasks
- Assist the Lead Reliability Engineer in the
ranking and maintaining the list of equipment
in assigned area in order of criticality;

- Assist in the RCM analysis in assigned area

developing and defining in maintenance strategy
for each companys fixed asset (and mobile
equipment in the case of the OPP area) in order
of criticality.

- As necessary, use techniques such as FMEA

assisting in the development and prioritization of
inspections details and schedules for critical
equipment.

- Follow through on defect elimination initiatives

in assigned area

- Working with the client to apply as necessary

Preventive Maintenance Optimization
methodology to

- audit and rationalize preventive maintenance

activities for fixed equipment (and mobile
equipment in the case of the OPP area) in
assigned area.

- Provide technical leadership and be a

resource in analyzing day to day problems,
trouble-shooting of issues, liaising with
manufacturer or technical expertise to
understand and improve reliability issues that
affect plant operations.

- Work with engineering to ensure that new

designs incorporate features that give
consideration to equipment reliability and
maintainability best practices and meet all the
prevailing industry and corporate Standards and

Guidelines.

- Audit inspection activities to ensure quality

and continuous improvement.

- Act as the Reliability liaison to Capital Project

acceptance.

- Participate actively in safety programs

promoting safety rules and regulations

Requirements (Skills, Experience and Qualifications)

Skills:
- Technical, management, organization
- Knowledge of technical and organisational experience in reliability practices in heavy
industries context.
- Recognised experience of RCFA program execution in large scale operation
- Experience and exposure to different complex industrial processes and equipment
- Has leadership and communication skills with a focus on optimization and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills in English and French
- Good interpersonal skills
Experience: level, field, duration
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Qualifications: education, complementary training (s)
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
