Professional Development Plan

(What do YOU need to work on to grow professionally?)

1. Choose and describe an aspect from a teaching competency that you need to work on (Goal)
The teaching aspect competency that I think I need to work on is time management and classroom
management during the activity time.

2. Describe what you will do to help achieve your goal (Strategies Used)
Be more aware of the class time and try to use some strategies.

3. Describe how you can tell if youre achieving your goal (Evidence)
I can take pictures or videos, moreover my MST notes can be evidence.
Grade Level: KG2 Subject: Math Learning Outcome (ADEC code and words):

Students will be able to recognize the components of

the number 14.
Students will be able to count from 1 to 14.

Introduction (warmer activity + teacher active engagement)

First I will review number 14, I will ask one students to write the number 14 on the board, ask the students
randomly to count from 1 to 14, then all the students together will count from 1 to 14.

Warm Activity

I will introduce the lesson by telling the students short story, I will bring the fruits basket infront of the
students in the circle. I will say, I want to make fruits salad today! And I need only 14 fruit for this salad,
who will help to pick up 14 fruit? One students will pick and count 14 fruit. After that I will divide the fruits
into 2 groups, I will ask 2 students to count the two groups, then I will write the numbers on the board. For
example, I will explain that the first group have 10 fruits and the second group has 4, what will happen if we
add the first group with the second group? I will let the students answer and then I will explain and write on
the board that 10 + 4 = 1. After that I will repeat this process but with different examples.

Active Engagement

For the active engagement I made a group activity. I divided the students into 3 groups, I explained the
activity, that they will have the number bond or addition mat and small circles and a marker. They will put
the circles in the two circles according to their color, then the will count the circles of each group and write
Time: 15 min

the number in the box, after that they will count all the circles. By teaching them the strategy, which is the
students start with the big number in their heads, and then count up the small number in their hands.
Whole

Independent Experience (small group activity 1)

Number 14 with straws for the low level students

The students will have the number 14 shape worksheet, the students will glue the straws that are cut with
different lengths and then trace the number 14 with it.

Independent Experience (small group activity 2)

Counting bear cards activity for the medium level students

The students will have the counting bear cards, the counting bears box and markers. The children will use
the counting bears for one to one correspondence by matching them up to the pictures on the card. Then they
will count each group of the bears and write the number down on the box, using the marker. Finally they will
count all the groups and write the result.

Independent Experience (small group activity 3)

Worksheet for the high level students

The students will have the number 14 worksheet and pencils. The students will count the pictures and the
write the number in the box. They will get three different questions.
After cleaning the tables, I will call the students together as a group on the mat. I will ask the
15 min

students to recall the number that was learned today. Ask the students about what they have learned
today, tell the students that we learned that the number 14 has different components.
Closing

Time:

Assessment

Asking the students and look at the students work.

SWC Lesson Reflection (Completed after EVERY lesson taught)

This lesson is for the grade level KG2; the lesson has taken place in the classroom. I
was trying to teach the students the components of the number 14.

The students were listening and responding to me when I was lecturing. In my

opinion, the reason the students responded that way was that the children love to see
and touch things instead of just hearing the teacher talking. And that what I did, I
brought objects like plastic fruits to help the students to count. Also, we played a
game as a group, and it was like a competition between the groups, which made the
students really excited and engaged.

Moreover, I think the students were really engaged because I related the lesson with
their real life, for example during the fruits salad activity, I asked what fruits do you
like? Have you ever ate fruits salad? Is it delicious?

I think the students enjoyed the lesson, especially during the group competition. They
also enjoyed the number 14 and straws activity and the counting bears activity. But
some student students had some difficulties with the counting bears activity because
they were mistaken with counting the bears because it was a big number for them.
Thats what also happens with the number 14 worksheet.
Thats why I believe that my lesson 85% meet my teaching goal.
