Assignment:

I want to know what you think! For this assignment, you will be writing to me about your
opinion of the wolves at Isle Royale.

Pretend I am a government representative, and you are a concerned citizen. This is NOT the
same as your characterthis is about your personal thoughts. Your job is to write me a letter
that expresses your concerns.

Guidelines:
1. Answer the following question:
a. What should be done about the wolves on Isle Royale?
2. You MUST include ALL of the following for full credit:
a. A position statement. This is 1 sentence that explains what you think and your
reasons.
i. Example: I think summer is better than winter because it is warmer and
you can do more fun things.
b. At least 2 reasons that support your position. Whatever you list in your
because statement should be the same as the reasons you explain here.
i. My two reasons that I would explain would be that summer is warmer
than winter and that I can do more fun things in summer than in winter.
c. Each reason should be explained in a full paragraph. (5-7 sentences each,
punctuation, capitalization, etc.)
d. You need to refer to the things we read together about Isle Royale (dont throw
those packets away just yet!) as well as what you know about Yellowstone
National Park in your supporting paragraphs.
i. For example, since I think summer is warmer, I would say something
about an article I read about summer vs. winter average temperatures to
support my reasoning.
3. Finish your letter by writing a conclusion sentence. Then, sign your name AND print it (so
I can tell its you!)
