Marking criteria

Criteria Assigned marks

Class Attendance and Participation 5% of total
Quizzes 15 % of total
Final Project and Presentation 15 % of total
Midterm 25% of total
Final Examination 40% of total
Total 100%

Quizzes: There will be 3 announced quizzes and the best 2 quiz marks will be in consideration for
grading purpose. Quizzes will consist of both theoretical and practical application related questions.

Project and Assignments: Students will be divided into groups of 4-5 members. Most class activities and
presentations will take place in this group. So be alert in choosing your group members. Do not think
that you can go ahead doing nothing in your group. I will take necessary peer evaluations at the end of
the semester and your grades will highly depend on the reflections of your group mates.

Quiz and Exam Pattern: The syllabus for the mid-term exam and question pattern will be declared in the
class. Usually the quizzes are objective and Math based. Mid Term and Final Exams are short question
answer and math based.

Participation: In class participation is worth 10% of your final grade. If you are absent from any class for
a legitimate reason, you should indicate that to the instructor so that you are not penalized for lack of
participation during that class. Opportunities for in-class participation include taking part in lectures by
asking questions and completing evaluation forms for group presentations

Grading Scale: UIU standard grading scale will be considered.
