Text: Texts will be given out at the start of each new module.
Seventh Grade Texts: HMH Science Dimensions (Modules C, G, & L)
Eighth Grade Texts: HMH Science Dimensions (Modules D, F, I & J)

Description:
As we enter another exciting year of Science, each grade will get into different aspects of
physical, life, and earth sciences. Students can expect regular homework, quizzes and tests
along with labs and projects to go with each module. The class will be built largely on
discussions and note-taking, with the goal of collaboration and teamwork in problem solving as
well as teaching organizational and study skills.
My class will focus on the processes by which the universe was created as well as how
humans impact those processes. We will talk about the omnipresent nature of Gods
involvement in the creation of our universe and the above-mentioned processes. We will also
discuss the impacts that humans have on Creation.

Classroom Rules:
Come to class on time prepared with all materials for class.
Students should be listening when others are talking. Wait your turn to give your input
to the discussion.
Clean up after yourself.
No food, gum or beverages in class.
No cell phones. Cell phones are required to be off and put away from 8:52AM- 3:30PM
(3:35PM for carpool students).
Be respectful to others: dont touch what isnt yours, dont call names, keep your
hands to yourself, and dont shoot down others ideas.

Consequences:
Students are required to come class prepared and on time everyday. Students that misbehave
during instructional time receive the following:
Verbal warning
Loss of recess
Phone call /email to parent
Detention
Serious violations will result in a referral to the principal.

Homework:

1
Students can expect homework approximately 3-4 times a week. This number is only an
estimate and could be less or more depending on the topic or particular unit. Homework is due
at the beginning of class when there is homework due. Homework submitted late will receive a
1 point deduction for each day that it is late (up to 5 points).

Make- Up Work:
Students who are absent have a homework buddy who is responsible for retrieving
assignments for them throughout the day and getting them to the designated place or person
who will get the work to the absent student. Students will have 1 day for each day that they
are absent to turn it in (marked AB for absent at the top). For example, if a student is absent 4
days, their work will need to be turned in 4 school days after they return to school.

Test Retakes:
Students who score below a 66% on a test have the opportunity to retake the test. Students
will need to fill out a retake form (found in the hanging files by the classroom door). This form
should be filled out and signed by the parent, and the retake date communicated to me before
it occurs. Students have three days from the date that the test is returned to complete a
retake, and the form needs to be turned in with the new test. The higher of the two scores will
be recorded as the final grade; there is only one retake opportunity per test.

Class Website:
The website for all of my classes is mrshibblerlcs.weebly.com. It will be updated weekly
with upcoming events as well as quizzes and tests or project due dates. It will be updated daily
with the days homework assignment (if there is one). It is currently under construction, but
will be fully functional soon, so keep checking back!
