Plate Tectonics Activity Directions

Follow these directions to complete the activity!

1. Go to https://www.learner.org/interactives/dynamicearth/tectonicsmap/
and read the short paragraph above the map.
2. Answer the following question:
a. What is the border between two plates called? (Make sure this is a complete
sentence!)

3. Without using your notes, draw a picture of each type of boundary. Make
sure you label them!

4. Make a table. Give an example of each type of boundary (name two plates
that have this boundary).

5. Looking at the interactive map at the bottom of the page, do the following:
a. Get 3 different colored pencils or markers.
b. Make a key on the map attached to this sheet.
c. Look at the map online and mark out each type of boundary as shown
on the map. To do this, you need to click on each type of boundary in
the green box below the map. Then trace on your map what it shows.

6. When you finish, click the Plates and Boundaries Challenge button in red
below the map.
a. Complete the challenge 2 times with your map
b. Complete the challenge without your map as help until you get more
than 80% correct.
