Geophysics and Method Geolistric

Geophysics is a science that is based on the laws of physics and mathematics to be
applied in the study of our planet.The scope geophysics are quite extensive and growing
branches of science.In general geophysics can be distinguished between geophysics as a study
model to explain the nature and behavior of the earth,and geopfhysics as a science that was
developed for the sake of exploration of minerals deposits that exist.Geophysical exploration
methods is the use seismic,gravity,magnetism,electricity,and electromagnetism to search for
oil,gas,minerals,groundwater,and so on, for the exploration and exploitation in economic
sense.The emergence of geophysical sciences because scientist need a tool that is good enough
to know the state of the subsurface geology.
Advantages and disadvantages of geolistric method:
Advantages:
Cheap equipment prices
Survey costs are relatively cheap
The equipment is relatively small and lightweight
The time required is relatively fast,can get 6-7 points in a day
Deficiency:
Not efeective for use in the karst region
To detect water can not be known how much volume(debit) must have the water
Can not distinguish between water flow and static
Unable to reach areas in ranging from 1000-1500 feet below the earths surface
Geolistric method can also be to suspect the existence of geothermal energy
(Geothermal) below the surface .Only this method to help others to know exactly where the
geothermal resource below surface.This is information regarding one of the geophysical methods
that geolistric.

Work and Geophysical Engineering

For currently geophysical engineering program is still little demand by the

people,especially high school students who will continue their studies to the level of the course.It
can be seen from at least public knowledge about this science.Ignorance is because at least the
media are discussing or exposing and at least the introduction and application of geophysics at
the high school level.Where as Geophysical Engineering graduates have hope very
bright.Because It is still at least compared to other science graduates and work is not only in
Indonesia but also outside Indonesia especially see the inventory of natural resources in the
earths increasingly scarce,especially oil.
A geophysical engineering graduates can work in a widw range of agencies both inside
and outside the country.Examples of establisments in the country are
Pertamina,LIPI,BMKG,Lemigas,Departement of Local Government Mining,Banking,and
other.For foreign gencies there PT.Chevron,PT Freeport,PT Exxon ,Schumberger and others.
Geophysical promising decent work. This is information about the work of geophysicist.
