FAMILIES OF ERIC HARVIE STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND OUR FIRST


STUDENT-LED LEARNING WALK OF THE 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAR

What:
Student-Led Learning Walks offer you and your child(ren) an opportunity to glimpse a snapshot of
what The Non-Fiction Writing Journey: Its about the Intention looks like at every grade level
across Eric Harvie School with your child as the guide.

Building the learning tools and strategies in our students Learners Toolkits is the primary work of the
school in literacy, math, science, social studies, critical and creative thinking to support students in
exploring, creating, investigating, questioning and designing inquiries, wonders and projects grounded in
curricular objectives.

We invite you to come with your child to see the multiple ways non-fiction writing boosts the learning
capacity of all children including yours across the grade levels

SLLWs are not parent-teacher interviews and do not include any evaluative data they are an
opportunity for students and parents to view, share and discuss student work as it is lived on our
school landscape from Kindergarten Grade 4. They are a low-stress, interactive opportunity to
experience learning with your child across the spectrum of learners in our school.

When:
Thursday, November 2, 2017 - 6:30 7:30 pm

Teachers will be present to engage in conversations about the work and how non-fiction writing
impacts student learning across all curricular areas. All students will be displaying their efforts in
the gym

Where:
Eric Harvie School Gym

Why:
To better understand the curricular expectations, progression of learning across the grade levels
and student perspectives related to representing that will inform your childs academic success this
school year
