This proposal will be an individual piece of work where you develop a topic
and propose a primary or secondary data methodology to resolve the topic.
The standard referencing for this report is the Harvard system. [Word
count: 1500]
This proposal should enable you to put into practice the principles
introduced in this unit. The assignment is designed to encourage you to
work and learn independently.
The project report should;
1. Introduction: Aim& Objectives, as well as industrial context
2. Include a literature review, which sets the study in a wider
academic context. Reference should be made to the
appropriate business literature and the review should be a
critical one.
3. Methodology that would justify the choice of research design
and research objective. You should also state the limitations
of the data you use.
4. Propose the data analysis process. It should be consistent with
your objectives and nature of the data collected.
Students must submit a proposal that covers conceptually the following:
Managerial topic/issue/problem(s)
Research objectives
Brief Literature review
Methods and research design
Sampling and Data collection/analysis guidelines
Schedule (Gantt chart would be acceptable)

1. Perform a literature search and write a critical literature review.
2. Develop a viable, achievable and structured research project.
3. Use a range of relevant research tools, e.g. for word processing,
presentations and data analysis
The prose should be precise and concise; padding and expansive,
long-winded prose is heavily discouraged. Total word count should
be about 1,500 words +/- 10% excluding timetable and reference list.
Failure to meet these word constraints will probably indicate an inability to
prioritize your material and construct a concise narrative that distils the
essence of your proposal; imprecise verbose language WILL result in lower
grades.
