Mrs. Erin A. Marshall

Manger of Education Department
Ontario Huron District School Board
Sault Ste. Maire, On P6A 6K4

Dear Mrs. Marshall:

305 Iron Shore Ave
Echo Bay, On 56090
Sept 11, 2017

I am writing in an application for the position of elementary school grade two-teacher and swim coach as
advertised on the Huron District School Board flyer. I will be graduating from South Dakota State
University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences, certification in ECE, and
certification in EL.ED from Dakota State University. I have over fourteen years of experience swimming
with my past four years being a student-athlete for the Division I school, South Dakota State University. As
I have advanced towards my degree, I have come to believe and express the importance behind the crucial
role recess is in the school abstract. I have gained valuable knowledge and experience in K-8 physical
education methods. I have attended board meetings at the Huron District School Board about the
importance of recess and how it provides the foundation for the Huron District School Board vision of
learners engaging in innovative experiences that maximizes achievement, building confidence, and
developing responsible citizens. My degree, knowledge, experience, and beliefs support the importance of
the recess abstract and the districts vision greatly, making a perfect match.

During my student teaching semester at Fishback Center for Early Childhood Education, I was able to
work under an NAEYC accredited program with a Reggio Emila inspired setting. Working and learning in
this amazing program allowed for ample amounts of experience in inquiry-based learning and self-
directed experiential learning in relationship-driven environments. By volunteering with several
organizations within Ontario Canada and Brookings, South Dakota, it has provided experience and
knowledge with diversity, culture, and public service obtained by working with the public and children.
For the past three years, I have been a camp counselor and lifeguard for the YMCA-Every Child Attends
Camp Program, which provides children living in poverty the opportunity to attend camp. The summer
camps have allowed me to work with a vast diversity of children and parents.

Attached, you will find my resume and completed application form. SDSU Registrars Office is forwarding
my Praxis and official transcript to you, and you should receive it within two days. Huron District
represents high standards of professionalism and an outstanding reputation in the Ontario Province
School Board which I hope to be apart. I welcome a personal interview at your convenience to tell you
more about qualifications and what I can do for the Huron District School Board. I look forward to
speaking with you. Please feel free to contact me at 605-691-6078.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Kalen Critchley
