1. Figure 7.51 shows a simplified retaining wall with horizontal backfill. Assume the soil
pressure behind the retaining wall is at-rest pressure, and the backfill is normally
consolidated. Determine:
(1) The at-rest soil pressure distribution along the depth of the retaining wall.
(2) The total resultant force (including the hydrostatic force) per unit length of the wall.
(3) The location of the point of application of the resultant force.
