ABSTRACT

Background: Nursing care given by nurses are forced to see an individual as a bio-psycho-socio-
spiritual being. Spiritual nursing care is important to improve the quality of life of a patient. Giving a
nursing care is influenced by motivation comes from inside or outside of a nurse.

Aim: This research aims to understand the relationship of nurses motivation towards the giving of
spiritual nursing care for patients in inpatient room of Kartika Husada Army Hospital, Kubu Raya.

Method: Quantitative research with analytic survey design using cross-sectional towards 52 nurses
respondents which was measured by questioner and was analysed by using spearmen correlation
test.

Results: Research results show most of the respondent has a low motivation [57.7%] and most of
the respondent give a poorly spiritual nursing care [51.9%]. There is a significant relationship with
moderate correlation strength between nurses motivation towards the giving of spiritual nursing
care for patients in inpatient room of Kartika Husada Army Hospital, Kubu Raya with p value = 0.00
and r = 0.509.

Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between nurses motivation towards the giving of
spiritual nursing care for patients in Dahlia, Sambiloto, Melati, Paviliun, and Kenanga inpatient room
of Kartika Husada Army Hospital, Kubu Raya that nurses should improve their work motivation to
give a spiritual nursing care to patients.
