MOVE THE WORLD!

T he world is changing. Global
temperatures are soaring
and polar ice is shrinking. Every
day, one species is becoming ex-
tinct. Animals are losing their
habitats because of human en-
croachments. Agriculture and
industries have stripped the
landscape of all greenery. And
the worst part is–we have done
nothing about it.
That’s right. Mankind’s
greatest mistake is not the mis-
use of natural resources but our
negligence. In spite of a huge
amount of data regarding cli-
mate change, many still choose
to deny it. And even as many
species stand at the brink of
extinction, poaching continues
unabated. All of these factors
have contributed to the present
climatic catastrophe.
But there’s still hope. 4
children out of 5 today attend
school. Learning has never been
given to so many people. Men
and women have begun to think
for the good of mankind. Fur-
ther, national parks and sanc-
tuaries cover 13% of the total
continental area. They make
sure that pristine ecosystems
remain that way. And with the
growth of technology, informa-
tion sharing is instantaneous.
What can you do?
Speak Out- If you see
someone doing harm
to nature, speak out
against the act.
Create Awareness- Read,
watch TV, browse the
internet and be aware
of your environment.
Plant a sapling- On your
birthday, instead of lav-
ishly spending on gifts,
plant a sapling.
Start a blog- A nature
blog is a great way to
share your views on
the environment.

Thus we have not only a serious
problem, but also the means to
solve it.
So all that remains for us
to do is to act NOW. It’s too late
for excuses.
We, as students, have a
great task at hand. We can do so
much to help preserve nature.
We can learn and share the lat-
est information about conser-
vation.
We are the engineers of
the future. We can develop new
technologies that use alternate
sources of energy. We can plant
and nurture trees in and around
the college campus.
We can reduce the use
of motorbikes and use bicycles
instead. We can eat fresh fruits
and vegetables instead of junk
food. We can use laptops in-
stead of desktops. We can take
the stairs rather than use the el-
evator. We can turn off the lights
in our homes when they are not
in use. We can use recycled pa-
per or use paperless money
transactions.
All these little acts will
eventually make a big difference.
Little drops can make mighty

We live in a world of abundance. The earth is capable of supporting all the living organisms with nour-
ishment. But in our greed, we have destroyed all the lush rainforests and verdant meadows. We have
converted almost all of primitive forests into cultivable land.
But today, most of these vast lands are being used for growing livestock feed. Even worse, most
farms employ agricultural techniques that are harmful to the environment. Most
chemical fertilisers ruin the soil and make it unsuitable for the growth of
natural vegetation.
