A Peek At The Sunday Sermon

Its a Rubik Cube Verse!

John 1:14-18
The above picture brings back memories bad memories that include
hours of frustration and exasperation. It was 1982 when I purchased
the Rubik Cube puzzle. Its the brainchild of a guy by the same name,
Mr. Rubik, who promised me hours of fun and entertainment.

What was I thinking? Well, I was ambitious and wanted to figure out
the mystery of solving the cube. After all, others had been successful
lining up the colors in record time. I honestly thought I could
duplicate their successes.

After hours of twisting and turning those slices I tossed it aside in

defeat. Mr. Rubik you can have this piece of plastic irritation!
Every now and then, I find a RubIk Cube verse in the Bible. Its a
passage of Scripture that leaps off the page and has me scratching
my head. Like the Rubik Cube, I hold that verse in my hand and
carefully turn it around and around. And the more I read the passage
the more complicated it seems.

On Sunday, we will look at a passage in the Bible that is like a puzzle,

begging to be solved. I hope youll join me as we study Johns
Gospel and solve a Rubik Cube Verse!

See you at 10 AM for Sunday Worship!

Beginning June 11th (Trinity Sunday) and until

November 19th the altar Colors are green,

of living things and the promise of new life!

Our suggested Scripture reading for November 5th, from the 2017
UCC Church Calendar:

Matthew 23:1-12 (NLT)

Jesus Criticizes the Religious Leaders
23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 The teachers of
religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of
Moses. 3 So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but dont follow their
example. For they dont practice what they teach. 4 They crush people
with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the
burden.
5
Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer
boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long
tassels. 6 And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats
of honor in the synagogues. 7 They love to receive respectful greetings as
they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called Rabbi.
8
Dont let anyone call you Rabbi, for you have only one teacher, and all
of you are equal as brothers and sisters. 9 And dont address anyone here
on earth as Father, for only God in heaven is your Father. 10 And dont let
anyone call you Teacher, for you have only one teacher, the
Messiah.11 The greatest among you must be a servant. 12 But those who
exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will
be exalted.

All Saints Sunday November 5th

In our Morning Worship Service on

to remember those who have walked
the paths before us and beside us in

Pastor Kren will read the names, a bell

friend will be asked to join him at the
front of the Sancturay. There will be
a quiet time of reflection, followed by
a prayer.
