Design Specifications

Project: Proposed Core Shelter


Location: Phase 2, Relocation Site, Tigkawayan, Sinaloc, El Salvador City

Foundation and Concrete Masonry Works

The foundation shall be independent footings as shown in the plan. The concrete slab
shall have thickness of four (4) inches. The concrete shall be done in accordance with the
standard government specifications for concrete materials and reinforcement
concrete.Concrete Hollow blocks shall be used in a perimeter zocalo is generally accepted
product and shall be 4" x 8" by 16" in size. Half of Walls will be using CHB and half will be
hardiflex on metal studs.

Plastering works shall be of plain cement mortar, two parts sand and one part cement
with a minimum thickness of 1/2 inch for interior use. Outer plastering work shall be plain
cement plaster. Toilet and bath shall be dropped at least 2 inches from the floor line. The
septic vault will be constructed in accordance with the plans and provisions be made for all
piping installations.

Lumber

Lumber shall be of respective kinds required for various parts of the work, well
seasoned, free from knots or cracks and other imperfections impairing its strength, durability
and appearance. All exposed woodwork shall be properly planed.

Steel Works

All trusses/rafters shall be of standard 1.5mm x 2x 6x 20 C- Purlin on top and


bottom chords and 2" x 3" x 20' CEE purlins full weld on all joints. All are to be painted
with rust proofing.

Doors and Windows

All doors is 0.9 M wide and be designed to open easily and operate by a single effort
requiring less than 4.0 kilogram of force.

Roofing and Tinsmithry

Roofing shall be of generally accepted corrugated galvanized sheets GA# 26.

Plumbing

All plumbing installations shall be done in accordance with the latest rules and
regulations as required by local or national government and under the direct supervision of a
duly licensed master plumber. All floor drains, clean cuts, soil pipes, water lines and other
fixtures shall be properly connected and tested. Sizes and materials to be used as specified on
the detailed plans.
Electrical Works

This work shall include the laying out of wiring outlets and switches. Performance of
the work shall conform with the latest rules and regulations required by the government. All
switches and C.Os is 0.6m in height from floor line. All institutions shall be done under the
direct supervision of a duly licensed electrical engineer or a master electrician.

Construction Requirements for units with PWD.

1. Washroom and toilets shall be accessible and provided with adequate turning space a
minimum of 1.8 meter in diameter.
2. Ramps shall be provided in all access to level of changes going to entry points as in main
door.
3. Floor finish for every route of the wheelchair shall be made of non-skid materials.
