Fan and Heater Operation
The cabinet is equipped with 100W fan mounted in the door and progressive filter mats
of F5 class as inlet and outlet.
The fan runs as soon as the temperature in the cabinet passes 25oC (77F). Hysteresis is
1C (1.8F). The fan speed is determined and managed by a temperature sensor located
in the right-hand side of cabinet.
The cabinet is designed with free cooling principle and it uses ambient air to cool the
interior. The internal temperature will always be higher or equal to ambient airs
temperature. The heat management of this cabinet is designed for maximum heat
dissipation of approx. 1300W 1 inside the enclosure.
Please note that above value is valid for clean filters and full speed of fan.
When filters get dirty/clogged, the maximum heat dissipation decreases significantly.
Therefore it is essential to keep filter clean for best performance.
Refer to chapter 5 of this installation for more information.
1
Maximum heat dissipation varies depending on equipment used inside, its location and
airflow

proper hardware. Use only the parts specified in the documentation. Installing fuses or circuit breakers
not specified for use in this equipment may result in injury to service personnel or equipment damage
Where required for installations in the United States or Canada, use listed/certified compression
connectors to terminate listed/certified field-installed conductors. If the proper connector for the country
of installation is not provided, obtain the appropriate connectors and follow all manufacturer and local
requirements for proper connections
Torque the electrical connections to the values specified on labels or in the product documentation
Installation Guide Flatpack2 PS System, 16kW, 48VDC, Outdoor 1.3m Fan Cooled Cabinet 351489.033, v11-2013-07 17
The DC distribution is considered a Safety Extra Low Voltage (SEL V) with the return side connected to
the chassis (earth ground) inside the enclosure
The supply neutral conductor must be grounded at the external service supply disconnect panel
Do not use other methods for cable entry than what is specified in the documentation for this product
Ensure proper cable support is used to support the weight of cables and cable conduits that enter/exit
the cabinet
Do not drill new holes or use other methods for cable entry than what is described in the product
documentation
Mechanical Safety
Keep hands, hardware and tools clear of the fans. Fans are thermostatically controlled and will turn on
automatically as a function of temperature
Rectifiers can reach extreme temperatures under load and normal operation
Use caution around sheet metal components and sharp edges
Do not climb on the enclosure to access the cable entrance. Always use the proper ladder and safety
precautions as dictated by the site conditions
Battery Safety
Note:
-Battery lifetime depends on working temperature (halved every +10C above 20C
temperature), on the lack of proper preventive maintenance, and on the depth and frequency of
Note the charge / discharge cycles. Actual lifetime is specified under normal conditions and regular
preventive maintenance routines as an aproximate expected value and cannot be guarantied as
it depends on many local and unpredictable factors not controlled by the system supplier.
Lifetime is specified by the battery manufacturer and is not a system supplier's responsibility.
Always wear eye protection, rubber gloves, and a protective vest when working near batteries. Remove
all metallic objects from hands, wrists, and neck
Batteries contain dangerous voltages and current, as well as corrosive material. Battery maintenance,
service, and replacement must be performed by authorized personnel only
Never use non-insulated tools or other conductive materials when installing, maintaining, servicing, or
replacing batteries
Use special caution when connecting or adjusting battery cables. An improperly connected battery cable
can result in arcing, fire, or possibly an explosion
A battery showing signs of cracks, swelling or leaking must be replaced immediately by authorized
personnel using a battery of identical type and make
Do not smoke or introduce sparks in the vicinity of a battery
Follow the battery manufacturers approved transportation and storage instructions
Prior to handling the batteries, touch a grounded metal object to dissipate any static charge that may
have developed in your body
Batteries contain or emit chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or
other reproductive harm. Battery post terminals and related accessories contain lean and lead
compounds. Wash hands after handling
If any battery emission contacts the skin, wash immediately and thoroughly with water. Follow your
companys approved chemical exposure procedures
Neutralize any spilled battery emission with a special solution contained in an approved spill kit or with a
solution of 1 lb bicarbonate of soda to 1 gallon of water. Report a chemical spill using your companys
spill reporting procedures and seek medical attention, if necessary
Each individual battery should have at least 0.25 inches of space between it and surrounding surfaces,
or per the battery manufacturers specification to allow for convective cooling
Battery cables must be dressed to avoid damage to the conductors. Damage or stress can be caused by
routing around sharp edges or in areas where wires could get pinched
Follow battery manufacturers approved instructions to set all battery related parameters accordingly

BATTERY CURRENT READINGS CHECK
AND CALIBRATION
This section provides the necessary information on how to test and calibrate the battery
current in the Elteks system. If you need to calibrate the power systems Battery Current
follow this procedure, while the power system is operating normally.
Please note that in most cases no re-calibration is neccessary as the Smartpacks were
pre-calibrated during systems assembly.
The shunt installed inside the system has a value of 400A and has an accuracy tolarance
of 2A (less than 0,1%). Use a Digital Voltimeter (DVM) or clamp on ammeter for
referential current measurements.
1. Preparation
Connect PC to Smartpack via USB cable and start up Powersuite.
In the Power Explorer panel in Powersuite, click on SmartPack 1 and choose Shunt
configuration tab and Current shunt section. Verify correct shunt value: 400A.

Low Calibration Point.
This action shall be performed when the battery is disconnected e.g. by tripping the
battery MCB`s.
(Note that if the AC input fails while batteries are disconnected, the load equipment will
be shut down)
This action should only be performed if setting of High Calibration Point hasnt resolved
calibration issue.
In order to set Low Calibration Point carry out the following:
Disconnect the batteries from the load, using the batteries MCBs.
Measure with an ammeter and confirm that the discharge current is 0A.
Enter the value: 0A , as a Low Calibration Point in PowerSuite, in the
BatteryCurrentX dialog box, under the Calibration tab. See figure 1 below.
Click Apply, then OK.
Reconnect the batteries by switching the battery breaker(s) back ON.
Check the calibration as in step 2.
