SNOW WHITE

 Scene One
MAGIC MIRROR Once upon a time in the middle of winter,
when the flakes of snow were falling like feathers from the sky,
a queen sat at a window sewing, and the frame of the window
was made of black ebony. And while she was sewing, she
pricked her finger with the needle, and three drops of blood fell
upon the snow. And the red looked pretty upon the white snow,
and she thought to herself, would that I had a child as white as
snow, as red as blood, and as black as the wood of the window-
frame.
Soon after that she had a little daughter, who was as
white as snow, and as red as blood, and her hair was as black as
ebony, and she was therefore called little Snow White. And
when the child was born, the queen died.
After a year had passed the king took to himself another
wife. She was a beautiful woman, but proud and haughty, and
she could not bear that anyone else could surpass her in beauty.
She had a wonderful Magic Mirror, and when she stood in
front of it everyday and looked at herself in it, and said,
"Magic Mirror, on the wall, Who is the fairest one of all?"
The Magic Mirror answered,"You my Queen, are the
fairest of all."
It got to be really annoying.
But then she would be satisfied for the day, for she
knew that I had spoke the truth, as always.
But Snow White was growing up, and grew more and
more beautiful, and when she was seven years old she was
already as beautiful as the queen herself. Now as a teenager,
she was breathtaking and the Queen worried that Snow Whites
beauty had surpassed her own.
Scene Two
THE QUEEN Slave in the magic mirror!
MAGIC MIRROR Yes?
THE QUEEN Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the
fairest one of all?
MAGIC MIRROR You my Queen, are beautiful
indeed. But, a lovely maid I see. Rags cannot hide her gentle
grace and pure beauty. Finally my Queen, she is more fair than
thee.

 THE QUEEN What?! Her name! What is her name?!
MAGIC MIRROR White as snow, and as red as blood,
and her hair was as black as ebony
THE QUEEN Snow White?!
Scene Three
SNOW WHITE (picks up a dandelion) I wish, for the
one I love to see that we are meant to be. For the one I love to
find me today.
PRINCE CHARMING Snow, what are you up to?
SNOW WHITE Oh. Um. Hey. Not much.
PRINCE CHARMING Well, let me help you with this.
(He begins folding the clothes set out for Snow to fold)
SNOW WHIE If the Queen sees this, shell kill me.
PRINCE CHARMING What could she do? Set her
mirror on me? (Seeing his joke did not make Snow feel better)
Dont worry. Ill protect you from her.
SNOW WHITE I dont know if I want you to if your
skills in protecting someone are equal to your skills in folding
clothes.
PRINCE CHARMING Hey! Im doing a great job! I
am a master folder of clothes.
SNOW WHITE You are most definitely not. Look at
how you folded this shirt. (The shirt is pretty much just
bunched up)
PRINCE CHARMING That was me getting into the
groove of things.
(After a moment they both laugh)
SNOW WHITE You have the most amazing smile in
the world. (Long pause) Wow. Did I really just say that?
PRINCE CHARMING Its okay, I know Im beautiful.
SNOW WHITE And so modest.
PRINCE CHARMING What can I say? Im perfect.
SNOW WHITE Hardly.
THE QUEEN (aside voice) Snow! Finish with those
clothes. I have more work for you.
PRINCE CHARMING And there is the lovely Queen
herself.
SNOW WHITE I guess thats your queue to leave?
PRINCE CHARMING Yah. Well, bye Snow.
SNOW WHITE Goodbye.

 Scene Four
THE QUEEN Take her far into the forest. Find some
secluded area where the idiot can pick wildflowers.
HUNTSMAN Yes, your Majesty.
THE QUEEN And there, my faithful Huntsman, you
will kill her!
HUNTSMAN But your Majesty, shes just a girl!
MAGIC MIRROR That she is.
THE QUEEN Silence! You know the penalty if you
fail.
HUNTSMAN Yes, your Majesty. I will not fail.
THE QUEEN Very good, and to make sure you
complete this deed bring back her heart in this.
HUNTSMAN I will, your Majesty.
Scene Five
SNOW WHITE (Sees a baby bird on the ground) Well,
hello there. Whats the matter? Wheres your mama and papa?
Why, I believe youre lost.
(Huntsman appears behind her)
Oh, please, dont cry. Come on. Perk up. Wont you smile for
me? Thats better.
(Huntsman begins to attack, Snow turns around. They
look at each other for a moment)
HUNTSMAN I cant! I just cant do it!
SNOW WHITE Huntsman!
HUNTSMAN Forgive me Snow. I beg of you to please
forgive me.
SNOW WHITE I dont understand. Why
HUNTSMAN Shes mad! Jealous of you! She will stop
at nothing until you are dead.
SNOW WHITE Who?
HUNTSMAN The Queen!
SNOW WHITE The Queen?
HUNTSMAN Yes, and to assure that I had killed you
she wanted your heart in this box. But, I will put a bears heart
into this box to fool her.
SNOW WHITE That wont work for long. She will
soon know and you will be in danger.

 HUNTSMAN I know. I cannot hurt you Snow. Please
run into the forest! You will be safer there. Never come back.
SNOW WHITE But I cant
HUNTSMAN Now! You must leave now! Go!
Scene Six
THE MAGIC MIRROR Now the poor Snow White was
all alone in the great forest, and so terrified that she looked at
all the leaves on the trees, and did not know what to do.
SNOW WHITE Everythings going to be all right.
THE MAGIC MIRROR Then she began to run, and ran
over sharp stones and through thorns, and the wild beasts ran
past her, but did her no harm. She ran as long as her feet
would go until it was almost evening, then she saw a little
cottage and went into it to rest herself.
SNOW WHITE Everythings going to be all right. It
has to be.
(Snow knocks, door opens, she explores the cottage)
SNOW WHITE Hello? May I come in?
Wow, it is filthy in here.
What is this? A bed? In the middle of the living room?
(Reads the name on the bed) Sleepy.
Im a little sleepy myself. I wonder if this Sleepy
would mind me just taking a quick little nap. (Gets in the small
bed) Whose bed could this be? Its so small.
THE MAGIC MIRROR And Snow slept. As she slept,
the seven men who lived in this cottage came home from their
day of work.
HAPPY Heigh ho. Heigh ho. Its home from work we
go. (continues to mumble this to himself)
DOC Our house! The lits lightUh, the lights lit.
ALL (Except Dopey) Jiminy Crickets.
SLEEPY The door is open.
BASHFUL Somethings in there.
HAPPY Maybe a ghost
SNEEZY Or a goblin. (Sneeze)
BASHFUL A demon.
DOC Or a dragon.
GRUMPY Mark my words, theres trouble coming.
Felt it coming all day. This is gonna be bad.
BASHFUL Gosh.

 SNEEZY Whatll we do? GRUMPY I dont know, but Im gonna get them!
SLEEPY Lets sneak up on it. I want to go to bed. DOC Shh! Not so loud. Youll wake her up.
DOC Yes. Ahem, well, uh, sqeak upsneak up. GRUMPY Ah, let her wake up! She doesnt belong
Come on, henuh, men. Follow me. here anyhow!
(They enter the cottage) BASHFUL Shes moving! (Sneeze)
DOC Careful, men. Search every cook and nannyuh, HAPPY What do we do?
hook and grannyuh, crooked fanuh, search everywhere. DOC Hide!
GRUMPY Shh! Quiet. SNOW WHITE Well, hello there.
(Dopey finds Snow, examines her) HAPPY Hi!
HAPPY What is this Dopey? GRUMPY Who are you and what are you doing here?
DOC Ce, bareful men. SNOW WHITE Oh, sorry, Im Snow White.
GRUMPY Be, careful men. HAPPY Snow White?!
(All about to attack her. Doc pulls off the covers.) BASHFUL The Princess?!
HAPPY What is it? SNOW WHITE Yes.
BASHFUL Its a girl. (Dopey runs up to Snow White and gives her a hug)
DOC Shes beautiful. SNOW WHITE Hi. Whats your name?
SNEEZY Shes amazing. SLEEPY Hes Dopey. He doesnt talk.
SLEEPY Shes in my bed! SNOW WHITE You mean he cant talk?
GRUMPY Shes a female! And all females are poison! SLEEPY We dont know. He never tried.
Theyre full of wicked wiles! DOC Well, my dear Quincessuh, Princess. Were
HAPPY What are wicked wiles? uhwere honored. Yes, were

 GRUMPY Mad as hornets! SNOW WHITE But she doesn't know where I am.
DOC Mad as hornets! No, no, were not! Were bad GRUMPY She knows everything.

SNOW WHITE Please, dont send me away. If you do, SNOW WHITE Oh, yes, and almost anything else you
shell kill me. would want!
BASHFUL Kill you? ALL (except Grumpy) Hurray! She stays!
HAPPY Who will?
SNEEZY Yes, who? Scene Seven
SNOW WHITE My stepmother, the Queen.
ALL (except Snow) The Queen! THE MAGIC MIRROR Snow kept the house in order
SLEEPY She's wicked. for them. In the mornings they went to the mountains and
SNEEZY She's bad. looked for copper and gold, in the evenings they came back,
HAPPY She's mighty mean. and then their supper had to be ready. The girl was alone all
GRUMPY She's an old witch! I'm warnin' you all! If day, so the dwarfs warned her and said, "Beware of your step-
the Queen finds her here, she'll swoop down and wreak her mother, she will soon know that you are here, be sure to let no
vengeance on us! one come in." But the queen, believing that she Snow White

was dead, could not but think that she was again the first and
most beautiful of all. To test this she went after the one man
loved and adored by all.
Scene Seven
THE QUEEN Magic Mirror on the wall, whose the
fairest on of all?
THE MAGIC MIRROR Over the seven
THE QUEEN The Prince! He is here! I can finally
show him why I am the fairest on of all.
PRINCE CHARMING Hello, your Majesty.
THE QUEEN Hello, Prince from the neighborhood
town. What brings you to my humble abode?
PRINCE CHARMING I needed to ask you something.
THE QUEEN Yes, I know I am beautiful and yes, you
may marry me.
PRINCE CHARMING What?
THE QUEEN Is that not why you are here?
PRINCE CHARMING No. I want to know where
Snow White is.
THE QUEEN Dead! You must love me because she is
finally dead!
THE MAGIC MIRROR No. She is not.
THE QUEEN and PRINCE CHARMING What?!
THE MAGIC MIRROR Ask it again.
THE QUEEN Magic mirror on the wall, who now is the
fairest one of all?
THE MAGIC MIRROR Over the seven jeweled hills,
beyond the seventh fall, in the cottage of the Seven Dwarfs,
dwells Snow White, fairest one of all.
THE QUEEN Snow White lies dead in the forest. The
Huntsman has brought me proof. Behold, her heart.
THE MAGIC MIRROR Snow White still lives, the
fairest in the land. It is the heart of a bear you hold in your
hand.
THE QUEEN The heart of a bear! I have been fooled!
Ill go myself to the dwarfs cottage, in a disguise so complete
no one will ever suspect. I will do what no one else will. I will
kill her once and for all.
PRINCE CHARMING No!
THE QUEEN Shut up you imbecile. Snow White with

the Seven Dwarfs beware, I will soon be the fairest in the land!
Scene Eight
ALL DWARFS Tell us a story!
SLEEPY A true story.
HAPPY A love story.
SNOW WHITE Well, once there was a princess.
DOC Was the princess you?
SNOW WHITE And she fell in love.
BASHFUL Was it hard to do?
SNOW WHITE I didnt even notice it was happening.
SNEEZY Thats beautiful. (Sneeze)
SNOW WHITE He is, well, he is the only one for me. I
cant get him off my mind.
DOC Well, then he is probably supposed to be there.
SNOW WHITE Someday my Prince will come and we
will meet again. Someday my dreams will come true and I will
live happily ever after. I hope.
GRUMPY Love can sometimes be magic. But magic
is just an illusion.
SNOW WHITE Oh Grumpy. One day you will
understand what love is. One day you will feel its magic.
THE QUEEN Sleeping Death. One taste of the
Poisoned Apple and the victim's eyes will close forever in the
Sleeping Death. When she breaks the tender peel to taste the
apple in my hand, her breath will still, her blood congeal. Then
Ill be fairest in the land!
But wait! There may be an antidote. Nothing must be
overlooked. Ah! Here it is! The Victim of the Sleeping
Death can be revived only by Love's First Kiss."
"Love's First Kiss"
No fear of that!
The dwarfs will think she's dead. She'll be buried alive!
Scene Nine
DOC Now, don't forget, my dear. Th-The old Queen's
a sly one. Full of witchcraft. So beware of strangers.
SNOW WHITE Don't worry. I'll be all right. See you
tonight.

 BASHFUL Be awful careful, 'cuse if anything would
happen to you
SNOW WHITE Goodbye. (Kiss on cheek)
BASHFUL Oh, gosh.
GRUMPY Disgusting.
(Kisses all Dwarfs on cheek Dopey comes back for
seconds, and thirds, and fourths)
SNOW WHITE Goodbye! Goodbye!
GRUMPY Now, I'm warning you. Don't let
nobody or nothing in the house.
SNOW WHITE Why, Grumpy, you do care. Goodbye
Grumpy.
THE QUEEN The little men will be away and shell be
alone with a harmless old peddler woman.
Scene Ten
THE WITCH (QUEEN) All alone, my pet?
SNOW WHITE WhyWhy, yes, I am, but
THE WITCH The little men are not here?
SNOW WHITE No, theyre not, but
THE WITCH Well, would you like an apple young
lady. They are fresh and ripe and perfect for pies.
SNOW WHITE Oh, they look delicious.
THE WITCH But wait until you taste one, dearie. Try
one.
SNOW WHITE I really shouldnt thank you though.
THE WITCH Since you look like a pure hear I will
share a secret with you. This is no ordinary apple. Its a magic
wishing apple.
SNOW WHITE A wishing apple? That isnt possible.
(Dopey sees this happening from afar runs to tell the others)
THE WITCH One bite and all your dreams will come
true.
SNOW WHITE I dont know.
THE WITCH Maybe there is someone you love? You
do not know if he loves you. With one bite and one wish he
will love you forever.
SNOW WHITE Well, maybe just one bite. I wish that
my Prince will come. (Takes a bite)
THE WITCH White as snow, and as red as blood, and
her hair was as black as ebony, finally dead.

(All the other dwarfs arrive) PRINCE CHARMING Hello.
DOC What is it Dopey? ALL DWARFS Hello Prince.
(Dopey pointing to inside the house) PRINCE CHARMING I know how to bring her back.
GRUMPY Its the Queen! Shes getting away! HAPPY What?!
THE QUEEN Now I am fairest in the land! PRINCE CHARMING True loves first kiss. Thats
HAPPY Snow! We have to see Snow White! the antidote.
(All run into the house. All shocked.) GRUMPY That will never work. Let her rest in peace.
GRUMPY Snow. I love you. We all do. SLEEPY Try it!
BASHFUL Ill do it.
Scene Eleven GRUMPY Shut up Bashful.
DOC Well, Prince, do you love her?
(Snow in clear coffin observed by all the Dwarfs) PRINCE CHARMING With all of my heart. Yes, I
THE MAGIC MIRROR Snow White was so beautiful, love her.

 Scene Twelve even just a moment. Then our story ends and another princess
will live happily ever after.
THE MAGIC MIRROR And Snow White went with him, and
their wedding was held with great show and splendor. But
Snow White's wicked step-mother was also bidden to the feast.
One day, she went before the magic mirror, and said,
THE QUEEN Magic miror, on the wall, whose the
fairest one of all?
THE MAGIC MIRROR Oh, queen, of all here the
fairest art thou, but the young queen is fairer by far as I know.
Snow White is still alive and well, and none is so fair as she.
THE QUEEN AHHHHH!!!!!
THE MAGIC MIRROR Then the wicked woman
uttered a curse, and was so wretched, so utterly wretched that
she knew not what to do, she stood still with rage and fear and
killed herself by biting into a poisoned apple.
The Prince and Snow White lived together, visiting the
seven dwarfs any time they could. Both the Prince and Snow
found out that love is everything its cracked up to be. It really
is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for.
Even sometimes, it is worth believing in the magic of love, for
