I express my profound gratitude to all those without whose guidance and cooperation this project would not
have been successfully completed.

No study however big or small can be undertaken by our own self behind every act of there are unforgettable
memories, efforts, guidance and blessings of those person without whom training would not have gone
successfully.

all information to complete my project on time where I have done my training.

their organization.
INTRODUCTION OF THE COMPANY.
Welspun is Asia's largest and the 2nd largest Terry Towel producer in the world It exports more than 94 per cent
of its towels to more than 34 countries. It exports more than 68 per cent of its production to the US, 23 per cent
to Europe and the balance to Middle East, Australia, Mauritius. It supplies to 12 out of the top 20 retail chains in
the world. In 2016 it got embroiled in a scandal for allegedly mislabeling its bedsheets as made out of Egyptian
Cotton. Target has severed ties with Welspun over this issue. Two class-action lawsuits have also been filed
against Welspun India Ltd.

Welspun is fully integrated player within the pipes, plates, coils and home textiles sector while it also has a
presence in the other business verticals such as steel, infrastructure and energy. As a globally recognized leader
in the fields of line piper and home textiles, Welspun group has captured a strong foothold in more than 50
countries, it employs over 24000 people and has as many as 100000 + share holders

While in the home textiles sector, Welspun is the largest integrated towel manufacture in Asia, a leading
supplier to 14 of the of the top 30 US retailers and a global supplier offering the entire range of product within
the segment. Welspun manufacturing base sits in its core facilities at Anjar, Gujarat while other units are
diversified in different parts of India with one plant each in USA & Saudi Arabia.

Welspun India Ltd is fully integrated home textiles manufacturing Its one of the largest global home textile
player with class manufacturing facilities in India. Besides the company was ranked 1st and the top 5 supplier
giants (USA) by home textiles today magazine January 2013.

Today, Welspun holds an undoubted global leader position owing to its willingness to embrace new technologies
& develop innovative products, with a network across 32 countries, the company offers the entire range of
home textiles products to consumers from almost every corner of the world and are one of the trusted
suppliers to many of the top retailers in the US & European.

It has modern manufacturing facilities at Anjar & Vapi in Gujarat, India where it produces the entire range of
home textiles produces the entire range of home textiles for bed & bath category, Welspun India ltd. Also owns
the following home textile brands.

Origin & Inception of company :


In 1985 Welspun Ltd was incorporated on 17th January as a private Ltd. Company, In the name style of Welspun
silk pvt. Ltd. In Mumbai. The main object of the company was promoted by GRG group headed by GR goenka.

In 1986 it has established yarn texturing unit at palghar, district thane with one texturing machine of 216
spindles for producing 797.5 mt yarns. In 1989 another texturizing unit of the same capacity was setup at
silvasssa In 1990 a modern polyster filament flat yarn manufacturing unit was setup at Achhad district thane
with a capacity of 605 mt per annum 1993. The company undertook to set up a cotton spinning project with
15000 spindles at village Morai near Vapi Gujarat for manufacture of terry towel.

In 1995 21, 581 spindles & 240 rotors were added to the cotton spinning division. The name of the company was
changed from Welspun polyster (india ) ltd to Welspun india ltd 12th October.

In 2006 welspund india ltd has appointed Ms. REVATHY ASHOK as an additional director of the company In 2009
welspun india ltd has appointed B.K.GOENKA as a chairman and managing director of the company In 2002
Mr. ARUN TODARWAL has been appointed as an additional director of the company.

THE ORGANISATION STRUCTURE OF WELSPUN COMPANY

Welspun group is headed by the vice chairman and managing director and assited by all well qualified
professional team at all levels. The structure identified the respective positions commensurate to the job
functions to ensure the overall fulfillment of the corporate objectives.

Any organization of such manmoth size grows indirect proportion to its talent pool therefore we have a very
structured approach to tapping such talent.

The recruitment policy lays down guidelines that will have a bearing on the recruitment of candidates

SOURCES OF HIRING

Request for resources is raised by the respective HOD and is given to the recruitment team of HCGA by filling up
manpower requisition form.

VARIOUS SOURCES OF CVS (CURRICULAM VITAL SYSTEM)

DATABASE: Resumes which are live and active with the HCGA team.
HEAD HUNT: Recruiters do the head hunting based on the requirement.
SEARCH ENGINE: Currently we use two of the leading portal to access their database access & unlimited
job posting eg. Naukri & Job aheads.
CONSULTANTS: if there are bulk requirement or niche requirement we tend to use consultants.
COMMUNICATION TO SHORT LISTED CANDIDATES

Candidates who are short listed from any of the sources are to be intimated for interviews by the concerns
HCGA team (HUMAN CAPITAL & GENERAL AFFAIRS) all candidates appearing for the interviews are to fill up the
prescribed company application form

In order to sustain the existence of the organization in the competitive business world. A sound recruitment
placement policy enriches the foundation of healthy employee relation & hence the right person at right place
become the prime thrust area for generating satisfactory and congerial growth enrichment organization.

MANPOWER PLANNING PROCESS

MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS USUALLY ARISES OWING TO THE FOLLOWING FACTORS

a) Opening of new divisions/department on account of business expansion


b) Replacement due to inter and intra transfer of welspunites
c) Creation of additional positions/vacancies
d) Separations

The recruitment process needs passing through various stages for which the lead time is most essential for
procurement of right person & therefore the recruitment should be done in a systematic & desired manner.
Normally, the dept head analyzes the manpower requirement for his own dept through the MANPOWER
REQUISTION FORM and forward the same to the HCGA dept for further action.

On receipt of the manpower requisition form duly approved by the management HCGA will initiate the
necessary action to fill up the vacancy, which would involve screening & short listing of the resumes & interview
of candidates & final selection.

PLACEMENT CHARGES

a) The placement agencies through whom the candidates are sourced will be paid the placement charges
as per terms & condition of placement contract.
b) The placement charges will be paid by A/C payees cheque endouring placement agency after 15 days
form days of joining duty of the candidates.
c) The placement charges will be subject to TDS & services charges as applicable from time to time.
d) The head hunting charges payable to the head hunting agency will be as decided by the management &
cleared by director HCGA from time to time depending on the position to be filled & the same will be
paid to the head hunting agency through A/c payees cheque after 15 days from the date of joining duty
of the date of joining duty of the candidate.
e) No advance payment would be made to any agency including head hunting agencies against placement
unless it has been specifically approved by director HCGA.

Corporate HCGA Handbook:

All recruitment whether permanent or temporary / contract needs final approved by the appropriate
authority as specified in the manpower requisition form. The HCGA would not be in a position to start the
procedure without an approved manpower requisition form.

The following procedure should be used when a post to be filled. The appointing manager must,

Define the job: - if it is an existing post, do we require an exact replacement or is this an opportunity to
revise the requirement. If it is a newly established post one has to be clear on the exact requirement,
draw up a job description & consult the appropriate HCGA department in relation to the appropriate
grade & salary.
