Resolving Error Messages During Installation
This Technical Publication has been revised to reflect a procedural modification on page 2.
GENERAL:
This Technical Publication covers how to resolve two error messages during the installation process.

DETAILS:
At times, during the installation process, two error messages may appear:
1. The remaining toner information cannot be detected properly. A non-Canon cartridge or a
cartridge with the wrong item number may be inserted, or no cartridge is detected.
2. Job in progresswait a moment, then try again.

If these messages appear on the control panel display, please execute the procedures below.

SERVICING PROCEDURE:
Message #1:
The remaining toner information cannot be detected properly. A non-Canon cartridge or a cartridge
with the wrong item number may be inserted, or no cartridge is detected.
1. Ensure the latest System Software has been loaded.
2. Turn off the machine.
3. Open the front toner door.
4. Ensure the bottle rotated into its correct final position.

a. If the toner bottle was in the final correct position, proceed to Step 5.
b. If the toner bottle was not in the correct final positon, carefully remove the toner bottle
from the machine entirely and ensure that all orange tape was removed. If there is
orange tape still attached, please remove it.

c. Carefully reinstall the toner bottle, close the toner door and proceed to Step 5.

5. Open the left door and remove the drum cartridge.

6. Inspect the drum and ensure the drum tab is not bent or broken.

a. If the drum tab is broken or bent (as shown above), please replace the drum cartridge.
7. If The remaining toner information cannot be detected properly. A non-Canon cartridge or a
cartridge with the wrong item number may be inserted, or no cartridge is detected continues,
replace the Developing Assembly and toner cartridge at the same time.

Message #2:
Job in progress wait a moment, then try again.
1. Ensure the latest System Software has been loaded.
2. Turn off the machine.
3. Open the left side door and remove any paper jam.
4. Open the cassette(s) and remove all paper.
5. Turn on the machine.
6. Close the left side door. Ensure that both the front and rear sides are secure.

7. If the message continues, ensure the drum tab is not bent or broken.

a. If the drum tab is broken or bent (as shown above), please replace the drum cartridge.
8. Load the paper into the cassette to complete the installation process.
9. If the Job in progress message continues, please contact our Technical Support Center for further
investigation.
