_ to read and translate varied texts about animals
-to answer to questions related to the texts
- to recognize vocabulary related to animals in songs
-to use given vocabulary related to animals into written and oral form

Activity 1

Aim:
-to solve a crosswords exercise with animals of all kinds
-to activate background knowledge

Procedure:
Ss write the mane of the animals monkey, crocodile, kangaroo, lion, gorilla, elephant, bear,
hamster, kitten, puppy, parrot, turtle, dolphin, whale

Aim:
-to arrange the animals from the crosswords according to their habitats

Procedure:
Ss arrange the animals from the crosswords according to their typology:pets( hamster, turtle,
kitten, parrot, puppy) forest/jungle(monkey, gorilla, bear, lion, kangaroo, elephant)
river/sea(whale, dolphin, crocodile) Correction is made in plenum.

Procedure:
Ss listen to The circus song, and fill in the lyrics with names of animals. Correction is made in
plenum.

-to read riddles about animals and solve them

Procedure
Ss read and translate riddles consisting in brief descriptions of wild animal which they have to
match with the corresponding picture and then write the name of the animal next to the picture.

-to read a text about pets
-to answer questions related to the text
-to talk about their own pets

Procedure
Ss read a text that descrie the pets of 2 children, dogs and cats. Then Ss have to answer the
question related to the text. Finally Ss should talk about their own pets having the question from
the exercise as reference.

Aim:
-to write about a wild animal

Procedure
Ss write a paragraph about an animal and present it to the class, taking into consideration how it
looks, where it lives, what it eats.
