Center in Midlothian, VA.

Performed initial full assessments to new patients on the unit, after receiving them from the PACU or from the ED.
Received report from other unit nurses and from off-going nurses. Gave report on patients to oncoming nurses.
Assisted with lifting, turning, and transferring patients. Did frequent pain assessments and monitoring. Gave meds
including narcotics for pain control. Hung fluids and antibiotics and programmed the IV pump, per doctor orders.
Gave suppositories, did colostomy care, packed wounds, changed dressings, assessed wounds, inserted a male
catheter, took out a female foley catheter, educated patient on JP drains, practiced sterile technique, took out a
portacath, and took out two hemovacs. Measured and documented intake and output. Used sliding scales to
administer insulin to diabetic patients. Hung blood, and took vitals per protocol. Provided patient education and
did discharge teaching. Took out IVs and discharged patients. Discussed care of patients and pain management with
PAs, NPs, and Physicians. Wrote progress notes, and documented all findings and assessments properly in Connect
Care.
