Bringing Lean
To the Office

W
hen I read statements such as service

by a wide margin,1 I see an opportunity
to make improvements.
As an old quality guy, I was invited recently
to teach a university course in lean thinking. I
had to read up on lean, design the course and
develop projects for the students to learn lean
hands-on. I chose projects on the university campus
rather than with local manufacturers, and the univer-
sitys admissions office agreed to let my students try a
