Instruments has created a faster and less cumbersome test kit to identify AIDS virus
The antibody sequence (ASQ) is currently only available for research use only,
The ASQ test will help make the research laboratory more efficient, explains
Cynthia Brocksen, Market Planning Manager, DSG Special Chemistry. Our kit offers a
four-hour turnaround. The older Western blot test takes 24 hours, and requires the
laboratory technician to inspect and grade each test strip visually based on color intensity.
This subjective system, along with other factors, results in more indeterminate and
improper readings. Our more objective ASQ test removes the guesswork.
Ease of operations and a savings in labor costs are only part of the systems
benefit. The products real value lies in providing an increased amount of information to
researchers.

they are studying, Brocksen adds. We can analyze 6 different HIV antibodies with this
kit over the term of the infection. The old approach simply tells the researcher whether
Beckmans test goes a step further and shows the antibodys concentration.
By seeing how weak or how strong the antibody is, the researcher can assign a
Beckman AIDS test kit number to it and plot it over time to better determine the state of
Brocksen adds that Beckman Instruments has received positive feedback from
some of the worlds leading AIDS researchers who have had a chance to preview the kit
This test kit goes beyond many others that I have seen, says John Justice,
time, and bring those finding out of the lab to help people in need.
