Mr. Daniel Shodder

Chair, English department hiring committee
Aspire Lionel Wilson College Preparatory Academy
Oakland Ca, 94621

Dear Mr. Shodder:

While speaking to my friend and your sociology instructor Shelly Wright, I was informed of your
recent opening for an English teacher; and shortly thereafter found the job listing online. I am
currently studying to obtain me English degree at Arizona state University and plan on
obtaining my minor in sociology as well as my BA this next June. Given your very unique and
inclusive mission statement I believe that I would be an asset to your teaching team as well as a
positive influence on your very special and exceptional students. I would love to be able to
meet with you in person to better explain how I can help your school obtain the goals set forth
in your mission statement as well as to continue your consistent excellence throughout the
community.

Throughout the pursuit of my educational degree I have volunteered at my local city funded
youth programs as well as many different organizations throughout my town. While a freshman
at my Jr college I created and organized a volunteer group which partnered with local eateries
in our neighborhood to bring awareness as well as the opportunity to deliver excess food to our
local food banks as well as the local nonprofit after school programs. I have become very
interested as well as invested in your recent Passion and Learn project. I believe that when the
leaders in our school are supported throughout research and additional learning our children
benefit extraordinarily! It has been nothing short of astounding the work you and your school
has done to bring a highly competitive education to those in low income neighborhoods as well
as the support you show in your educators passion in teaching those children. I have always
felt that a child should never be afraid to take risks while learning and I also feel that they
should have a safe place where they can be uplifted as well as encouraged to make mistakes in
order to succeed. With education being what it currently is in our country no one should have
the right to an education taken away from them for any reason, especially because of their
household income, race, or injustice of any kind.

In your currently posted position it states that you are specifically interested in an instructor
that is skilled in the knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles as
well as establishing the expectation that every student will attend college. I strongly believe
that both of those points go hand in hand regarding the faith in a childs learning ability; it
should be invested in as well as tailored to each child specifically. While participating in my
teaching internship our team had the same values as well as expectations for our kids that we
were coaching. Using blended learning as well as consistent and persistent assessment we
could expand their learning abilities as well as their confidence in furthering their long-term
education goals. Aside from the basic requirements of my degrees as well as my internship in
teaching, I am also more than qualified to participate in your personable teaching approach.
The fact that you consider your locations an ecosystem of schools is such an inspiring concept
and instantly recalls the fact that it takes a team to educate our future children, which is
something I am in complete agreeance with. In every other school in my current district it is
almost a constant battle between parent, teacher, student and administrators to teach these
kids but in the end, no one is listening or considering one another; The values your school is
founded upon are the ideals that we should push for all schools to adapt to.

Aspire is a school and a team that I would love to be a part of and to make history with and I
would very much like to be able to sit down with you and discuss the possibility of me joining
your team as well as joining the movement you are making with your teaching methods.
Attached you will find my resume; I hope to be hearing from you soon, thank you for your time
in considering me for this position.

Sincerely,

Nicole Griffiths
