INTRODUCTION

Playing is an integral part of the everyday life in every children. Fun to them is
equivalent to playing with their peers, and not paying mind to possible consequences of
their actions. With regards to the subject of our case study: Bon Jovi, a six year old boy,
was diagnosed with supracondylar closed fracture due to playing with his peers. It all
started as innocent play that eventually led to our patient falling out of balance and then
subjected to his friends stacking up on him part of their game routine. Bon Jovi
immediately cried out in pain which was felt on his left elbow. Subsequently he was then
brought by his parents to a manghihilot as an alternative intervention for the injury that
was thought to be just a minimum piang, and expected to be repaired by a simple
massage. After three weeks of suffering, Bon Jovi was observed to be unable to fully flex
his left arm, this led to his parents finally considering to take the patient to Bukidnon
Provincial Hospital Maramag. Upon admission to the hospital, an x-ray was ordered by
the physician and on official reading it was shown that the patient had a fracture that has
already healed but exhibited malunion in a less optimal position. Medical intervention
was ordered by the physician in form of surgery that is Osteoclasis. This was done to
improve the structure of the bone, applied with cross pinning supracondylar fixator on
the left elbow which is a surgical destruction of the bone tissue.

The assessment is done in three categorical way pre-operation, intra-operation

and post-operation this happen on February 19-23 2016. The Gordon functional health
pattern is used as our assessment tool to help assess all aspect of the 11 categories which
is systematic and standardize approach to data collection and enables us to determine
the following aspects of health and human function. Also, the use of review of system
helps in gaining information of the client physical status to note for the clients
abnormalities.

Prioritization of appropriate nursing interventions are based in following Maslows

hierarchy of needs. The interventions applied was based on the patients clinical needs by
encouraging the client to have a passive ROM exercise, proper positioning of the elbow,
encourage adequate rest with moderate activity, instruct the client to maintain proper
body alignment at all times encourage position of comfort, encourage deep breathing
exercise, encourage adequate nutritional intake, instructed the family to provide
emotional support and encouragement, and teach with diversion relaxation techniques.
This is some of the intervention we apply to our patient to promote wellness and increase
the possibility of healing.

This case is chosen because it can relates to our current subject which is
perception and coordination. Specifically, this case was in the musculoskeletal system
which function is to support the body and allowing motion. His current situation is clearly
fitted to the case that we need. Health care modalities are also prominent in this study as
the use of cast is done. This case study was critically analyze and convey information
related to the topic we have already discuss presented with facts of assessment when
addressing the question to the client. This study was provided with the most priority
management and appropriate intervention that were safe to apply theoretical and actual
knowledge.
