Vox-pop Questions and Why

Question 1 What are the consequences of getting tattoos or piercings?

Why We asked this question so we could see how society feels about the dangers of
getting tattoos or piercings and how they felt about this. People who are for tattoos or
piercings may say few or no dangers whereas people against tattoos or piercings will state
multiple dangers.

Question 2 Why do you think people get tattoos?

Why We asked this question so we could see peoples opinions on why people will get the
tattoos or piercings, answers will range from trying to fit in, artistic choice or out of an in the
moment decision on the behalf of the individual.

Question 3 Would you ever get a tattoo or piercing?

Why We asked this question so that we could get a better understanding of the persons
own views on the idea of getting a tattoo or piercing as this may have an effect on the
answers to the other questions, if they would not get one themselves they might be more
likely to disagree with them.

Question 4 Out of the two photos, who are you more likely to employ?

Why We asked this question so that we could see the impact of tattoos and piercings on
employability. The photos were of two men, one with tattoos and the other without. The
answers given will show the bias that people have for or against people with tattoos.
Expert Interviews

Question 1 Do you think that having a tattoo or piercing has an impact on a persons
employability?

Why We asked this question as we believed it would be a simple and straight forward
question to find out how the expert feels about the impact tattoos or piercings have.

Question 2 Do you think they Equality and Diversity Act has prevented people from
discriminating or do they still do it?

Why We asked this as we wanted to see if the act has an impact on how people are judged
when being employed and if people still discriminate regardless.

Question 3 If there were two people with identical skills, would you be more likely to
employ the person without the tattoos or piercings?

Why We asked this question as we wanted to see if the person would discriminate against
someone with or without tattoos or piercings.

Question 4 Do you personally have a bias against somebody with or without tattoos or
piercings?

Why We asked this question as we wanted to see the experts own person opinions on
tattoos and piercings and if they would consciously or unconsciously

Question 5 Are there some jobs where it would be more acceptable to have piercings or
tattoos?

Why We asked this question as we wanted to find out their opinion on how tattoos or
piercings might be more likely to be accepted instead of discriminated against.
Question 6 Would you saying tattoos and piercings give someone an advantage and
make them stand out positively?

Why This question was asked as we wanted to ask a question that would put a more
positive outlook on tattoos or piercings as most of the other questions have been negative
and about discrimination.

Question 7 Would somebody be more likely to discriminate against either a man or

woman with tattoos or piercings?

Why We asked this question as we wanted to see if there would be an impact in whether
it was a man or woman who has the tattoos or piercings.
