Introduction

Sound in film has not been around forever but since 1927, the industry changed.

It all began with The Jazz Singer- 1927 was the first ever film to introduce sound into
the film industry. The film is about the son of a Jewish Cantor who must defy the
traditions of his religious father in order to pursue his dream of becoming a jazz singer

Early sound recording and reproduction relied entirely on acoustic means. In the
early 1920s the vacuum-tube amplifier, invented by the American Lee De Forest,
came into use, marking the transition from acoustic to electrical recording.

Sound recording equipment has changed drastically over the past 100 years.
Everything is much more compact, portable and achieves better quality outcomes
for the final product. The way everything has changed

As we can see and hear, current films and the sound that they use has improved
dramatically. This includes the introduction of surround sound, the improvement of
the cinema experience and the techniques used to create something we dont
even notice while watching films.
