- CSE/CPSE Chairperson Training
This workshop was developed in collaboration with the NYS State Education Department to provide CPSE and CSE chairpersons with a best practices
approach to the CPSE/CSE process in their role as a chairperson. The training follows the CPSE/CSE process from referral through reevaluation.
Through a combination of lecture and activities, participants will gain an understanding of the chairpersons role as defined within law and regulation,
and learn to facilitate parent participation throughout the process. This is a 5 day training.

The Way To Work - Book Study
Many districts are seeking to implement or improve Work Based Learning programs to meet the requirements of the CDOS Credential. Participants will
be provided the book The Way to Work by, Richard Luecking to assist them in developing quality; compliant work based learning programs to meet the
needs of their students. This Book Study will meet 6 half day sessions during the 2017-18 school year and participants will be expected to attend
each session. In order to facilitate dialogue and maximize the experience the Book Studies will be limited to the first 15 participants. Only 1 person
from each district or agency will be admitted in order to increase the opportunities for all to benefit from this extraordinary opportunity!

Occupational Studies (CDOS) Commencement Credential
This workshop series will be offered as 3 distinct modules. Each module builds on the former, as such; attendance at previous modules is a
necessary requirement for registration at later modules.
CDOS Module 1: The Overview- The workshop will provide an overview of the CDOS credential and the regulatory requirements necessary for
districts to award the credential. The programmatic impact of these requirements will also be discussed.

Accelerating Learning for English Language Learners (PRE-REQUISITE to attend *see description)
The aim of this PD is to provide pedagogical background and methodology for accelerating learning for English Language Learners (special education,
at-risk, or general education population) in order to reduce the referral rates of our English Language Learners to special education or more restrictive
instructional environments and to increase the rate at which they progress through curriculum as they learn a new language. The participant should walk

the disproportionate referral rates of ELLs to special education and the over representation of ELLs in more restrictive environments. Participants

The aim of this PD is to provide administrators with the pedagogical understanding of the difference versus disability conundrum in order to tackle the
disproportionate referral rates of ELLs to special education and the over representation of ELLs in more restrictive environments. Administrators should

The aim of this PD is to provide evaluators with the pedagogical understanding of the difference versus disability conundrum in order to tackle the
disproportionate referral rates of ELLs to special education and the over representation of ELLs in more restrictive environments. Evaluators should
leave with the newly developed NYS evaluation module for ELLs to ensure that their evaluations are culturally a linguistically appropriate and in line
with NYS requirements. Dynamic assessments and model evaluations will be discussed at this PD. Recommended for all evaluators (psychologist and

Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)/Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP): Building Comprehensive Plans of Support
Discussion and activities will identify all NYS required components of the FBA/BIP process. Participants will gain understanding of an efficient team
based FBA process and the subsequent creation of an effective BIP through the use of the behavior pathway format. Participants will also gain a deeper

school wide systems of support that include proactive approaches to preventing and responding to school and classroom discipline problems which
result in the development of a positive school climate.

Developmentally Appropriate Behaviors and Practices: Is it a Challenging Behavior or just Developmentally Appropriate?
This 3 hour workshop will explore what DAP is in relation to common behaviors preschoolers exhibit. Exploring what is developmentally appropriate
or typical (both age and individually appropriate) in preschoolers social emotional skill development will occur. Participants will gain understanding of
the basics of behavior and its function, as well as how to determine if behaviors are typical or truly a challenging behavior, requiring additional
supports, as well as some DAP tips and strategies. See next page for registration information
