FEASIBILITY REPORT ON PROPOSED REPAIRS TO DAMAGED FENDER

WALLS AT J. N. P. T. CONTAINER TERMINAL.

At J. N. P. T. container terminal, the ships are continuously berthing. In the process some r,
c. walls supporting the fenders are damaged. We are asked to consider various schemes to
repair the r. c. walls. We are considering repairing three walls which are damaged and which
are near each other, If the walls to be repaired are near each other then there is saving in
shifting the shuttering.
There are some difficulties in the work which must be considered, (1 ) The weight of the
concrete is about 109 tons and the concrete takes 28 days to gain strength.
Secondly the depth of water even at low tide is substantial.
At high tide the bottom of the wall is under water. Hence the shuttering and concreting must
be done between low and high tide..

The following table gives some important levels.

1 Deck level front edge 7.05 M.

2 Mean high water level springs. 4.60 M.
3 Mean low water level springs. 0.69 M.
4 Fender wall bottom level. 3.05 M.
5 Working platform level. 2.594 M.
6 Lowest level for providing fixtures for 0.794 M.
connections to piles.

Our scheme is as under.

We provide a working platform capable of taking the heavy load of about 130 tons. Because
of the restrictions of space the working platform has no room for materials. It will provide
facility for shuttering, de shuttering and curing, inspection etc.

We shall anchor frames to piles. using HILTI Resin Anchors. ( Latest Hilti chemicals can set
under water) On these frames we shall run beams connecting piles. On this there will be
secondary beams. Some beams will be tied by ropes from deck level. Most of the beams will
be ISMB 600.
There will be three layers of beam one over the other and over the last topmost layer there
will be the working platform.

The steel required and the concrete will be as under.

1 Volume of concrete 4368 Cum.

2 Weight of concrete 109.20 Tons
3 Reinforcement bars. Not calculated
4 Steel required for shuttering 6562 Kg.
5 Steel required for working platform 12411 Kg.
6 Steel required for layer immediately 6698 kg
below working platform.
7 Steel required for lowst layer of 6977
bracing
8 Total structural steel reqd. 32648 kg.

Two drawings and two excel sheets are attached. let us meet including Nimish and
finalise the bid.
Mr. Vijay Doshi to take further action.
