Lesson 1 Book
The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus ordered them.
When they saw him, they worshiped but they doubted.
Then Jesus approached and said to them, All power in heaven and on Earth has
been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of age.
Evangeli Gaudium- Church teaching that speaks of our mission of spreading love and
goodness we are experiencing in life.
Evangeli Gaudium 8-9
For if we have received the love which restores meaning to our lives, how can we fail to
share that love with others? Goodness always tends to spread. Every authentic
experience of truth and goodness seek by its nature to grow with us and any person
who experienced profound liberation becomes sensitive to the need of others. As it
expands, goodness takes root and develops.
Lesson 2
Jesus tells the people, You are the light of the world, a city set on a mountain cannot be
hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a
lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before
others, that they may see you good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.
Lumen Fidei, 4
- Church teaching encyclical of Pope Francis
Lesson 3
Basic Ecclesial Communities are small communities of Christians, usually of families who
gather around the Word of God and the Eucharist. These Communities are united to their
pastors but are ministered regularly by lay leaders. The members know each other by
name and share not only the Word of God and the Eucharist but also their concerns both
material and spiritual. They have a strong sense of belongingness and responsibility for
one another.
PCP II 138
- The community of faith is formed and Nurtured by the Body of Christ in the
Eucharist. Christ is the foundation of this community
1st paragraph
Remember that at one time you, Gentiles in the flesh, called the uncircumcision by those
called the circumcision, which is done in the flesh by human hands, were at that time
without Christ, alienated, from the community of Israel and strangers to the covenants of
promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you once
were far off have become near by the Blood of Christ.
2nd paragraph
For he is our peace, he who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of enmity,
through his flesh, abolishing the law with its commandments and legal claims, that he
might create in himself one new person in place of the two, thus establishing peace, and
might reconcile both with God, in one body, through the cross, putting that enmity to
death by it. He came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those
who were near, for through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.
3rd paragraph
So you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow with the holy ones and
member of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the capstone. Through Him the whole structure is
held together and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord; in Him you are also being built
together in a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
