Read the article about the Cross-Cultural Communication Competence Model and

provide a brief overview of the key aspects of each of the Cross-Cultural

Communication Competence Models four dimensions and how the model was

applied.

Discuss any weaknesses that the model has and what you recommend adding to the

model to improve it.

Discuss what you believe your biggest challenge would be to get your team to work

together and open a successful childrens hospital. How would you overcome this

challenge? Explain how you will use key aspects of the model to develop training for

the team.

How does the political environment of each country impact how you approach the

management style you utilize for your team?

Cross-cultural Communication Competence Model involves four dimensions that make

functioning and collaboration of personnel of individuals from different cultures possible when

working together. The four dimensions include team effectiveness, interpersonal skills, cultural

empathy, and cultural uncertainty (Scott, 2016). The model entails bringing together different

cultures towards working for a common purpose.

According to Congden et al., (2009) as they build on Matveev & Nelson (2004) research,

their article documents that worldwide intercultural cooperation drives corporate growth and in

turn a significant development of the global demand for a qualified but diverse workforce. The

team effectiveness across multicultural workforce is coherent towards attaining common goals

and objectives while profoundly being influenced by their respective national cultures in the aim

to portray their cultures as the best. Also, cultural empathy is cognizant of the cultural

differences among employees of different nations using that as a pillar of operations.

Similarly, as Congden et al., (2009) summarizes on the cultural empathy difference

between the American and German worker, it entails the understanding of various society's

cultures. Also, how they differ from your own allowing the creation of a common ground and

sharing of core values and norms that are essential to working together. Finally, the cultural

uncertainties in various studies have been asserted to exist between American and Russian

workers. This requires the team to devise a mechanism to cope with anxiety through minimizing

cultural uncertainty and forge a stronger bond of working together competitively and with high

competence.

According to Wang (2015), the main weaknesses of the Cross-cultural Communication

Competence Model suffers the deficits of finding a common ground of communicating between

different cultures. For example, as English has profoundly bee identified and used as the

International language, every student from various countries around the world ought to study the

language. However, there is perceived the lack of understanding and resistance to absorbing the

language due to cultural differences. It is crucial to explain the culture of the English language to

find a common ground of operation with the new culture.

The primary challenge bound to be met would entail finding a common language that

workers from the different countries would understand. As English serves as the International,

we have to consider the possibility the communication barrier across cultures exists with some

having zero knowledge of the English language. Therefore, as technology has advanced

significantly, use of computers to translate instructions into various languages is critical to

initiating the success of the process as workers team-up and learn about each other as time

progresses. The different political backgrounds of the doctors have a profound impact on the

style of management used in the team. This requires understanding each one of them, and choose

the model that is most convenient for all employees.
