SECTION B (60 Marks)

Attempt any five questions in this section
11. Using a pair of campus, pencil and a ruler only, construct a triangle PQR and a circle center
T according to the following procedures.
(i) Draw a line PQ= 7.5cm, angle RPQ=45 and angle PQR=75.
(ii) Bisect angle RPQ and extend your bisector to cut line RQ at S. Measure a distance
ST=PS to locate T at the extreme end of the bisector. Note that T is not inside the triangle.
(iii) Draw a circle with radius, r = ST and T as the center.
(iv) Calculate the area of the triangle SQT formed.
(v) Calculate the area of the intersection of the triangle SQT and the circle. (12marks)

12. In a certain village 52 people were asked to find out how many owned pigs (P), dogs (D)
and goats (G). 23 had pigs, 21 owned dogs, 22 owned goats, 8 had both pigs and dogs, 10
had both pigs and goats, and 6 owned both goats and dogs. And 4 were found to own none
of the three animals.
a) Represent the above information in a Venn diagram.
b) Determine the number of people who:
(i) Owned all the three kinds of animals
(ii) Owned at least two kinds of animals
(iii) Only one kind
c) If a person is selected at random what is the probability that person owns only goats and
dogs. (12marks)

13. Study the diagram below and answer the questions that follow
Given that O1 and O2 are the centers of the two circles, with radii r1 = 4.5cm and r2 = 2.1

cm respectively. =13.48cm, the length of the chord =2.16cm, angle QPS =105,
angle QFR = 88. Determine the: (Take = 3.142)
(a) area of the triangle QRN
(b) length of the major arc XN
(c) area of the shaded sector (12marks)

14. The figure below shows a rectangular piece of paper ABCD which has been folded along
EF such that C maps onto G and triangle AFD removed.

Given that =3 =4 . = ( + 2) = (2 + 3)
(a) Find:
(i) Find the area of the triangle ECF
(ii) An expression for the area of the shaded region ABEGF in terms of x
(b) If the shaded area is 26.5cm, show that x + x 5 = 0. Hence find the length of
