Below is an overview of our brand new course:

Awarding body: OCR

30% coursework (known as NEA Non-Examined Assessment)
o One coursework production
o Takes place in year 13
o Will be a music video and website
70% examination
o Paper 1 newspapers, social and participatory media, magazines, advertising
and music video
o Paper 2 film, radio, video games and long form drama
You will learn about the theoretical framework of media studies:
o Media language
o Representation
o Audience
o Industries
o Contexts
You will study a range of theories and ideas including feminism, post-modernism,
fandom and audience reception theory
You will study a range of set products, including:
o Netflix series Stranger Things
o Minecraft video game
o The Guardian and The Daily Mail newspapers
o The Big Issue Magazine
o The Jungle Book film
