STICKSMITH. his collection of Tom Smiths sculptures, oten
derived from overlooked sticks, act as still-lifes for abstract paintings.

Tom studied under American landscape painter Robert Starkey

when he was young, and continued his studies with painter Akira
Arita at Rhode Island School of Design. Tom furthered his educa-
tion at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where he studied with William
Katavolos and sculptor Haresh Lalvani. At Hampshire College, Tom
rounded out his artistic studies with Arthur Hoener and Curt Barnes
and, at Mount Holyoke College, with Leonard DeLonga.

At the Virginia Tech College of Architecture, Tom studied under

Olivio Ferrari and Salahiddin Choudhury. He later studied with
Allyn Massey at the Corcoran Gallerys Corcoran College of Art, in
Washington, D.C.

Toms studio is in Southeastern Connecticut.
