Disability is one of the major issue on our society in this modern time .

It is one of
the issues that we have to address before programming a solution to a given problem involving
design and functions. Sometimes ,the stigma of being a disabled person hinder them from doing
the things that normal people also do .In this aspect people with disability here in the Philippines
are sometimes judged because of their state .They are not accepted in some of the professional
job because of their capabilities and sometimes disregard in any field of professional job.
Moreover ,this prejudice that are created by their disability are hindering them from doing things
that normal people do .Like others they must be treated with equal treatment like what normal
people .They like to be treated like normal person which can make them feel that they are belong
to the society.

External environment is one of the important factors that affect the persons point of view
.As one of the member of the society, this will benefits their doubts and aspirations in their daily
life. In the field architecture, we architects create spaces which will create and benefits persons
point of view which will affect their ideas. We must create a space that will encourage them to
be the person they wanted. The benefit of having an architect in a construction project will help
builders and developers to create space that will not disregard or create biases in every part or
any room in the building. As a response, architects create programs to ensure that every part of
the building is functioning according to the plan .Being an architect doesnt mean you just have
to develop a program in a specific types of people thus, it must be in accordance with the law
because the law is always for the people .

Universal design is the goal and must be the primary principle of design and construction
that we must consider before coming up in an idea for the their own architectural projects First
and foremost, We will consider the capabilities of the occupants whom will use the building. A
building that is well equipped with all the compliance of the law specially the National Building
code will be good and fully functional to any type of persons regardless of their disabilities .In
compliance to this law, architects builds plans according to the safety standards implemented by
the law and response to this, they create schematic diagrams according to the law. National
building code is not enough to accompany all the necessary precautions to create a safe building
for any type of person or occupants so the government come up with the idea of creating a law
that will response to universal design thus, leading the way to the creation of B.P 344.
 Accesibility laws main goal is to create a environment that are suited for the disabled
people. As a member of the society, they must feel that they are not restricted to any activities
like what normal people do. This law also seek public awareness to the rights of the disabled
people so they can socialize and interact to their environment. Furthermore, all types of building
such as residential, commercial, industrial, government, recreational and institutional are require
to comply to B.P 344. In accordance to this, this law will ensure public welfare and foster
opportunities for the disabled people to create enjoyment and development to the society that
they live.

National University is an institutional buildings that are required to comply to B.P

344.They must understand the value of the disabled persons to create an environment that are
suited to all types of people. As per our goal, we must advocate dynamic Filipinism for the
creation of nation building. We must administer all the needs of all the people and we must
ensure that all types of people have the rights to be accessible to education

Our school comply to some provisions of the b.p 344 which are good enough in some
cases .The Main Building are one of the example of the compliance of the school because the
floor are accessible through elevators and stairs. The clearances of the spaces are clear enough
for the people who cant manage to stand or walk. The only problems are the lack of ramps for
the disabled persons, the building doesnt have any ramps specially on the entrance which make
it hard to access. Another problem is the lack of appropriate materials for the flooring. The floor
is slippery and it doesnt have tactile blocks. Overall, the main building is good enough for the
disabled but there are still space in planning and design that they must work in order for the
building to be accessible to everyone.

The J.M.B building is designed in accordance to the principle of tropical design.It is

one of the coolest but this building doesnt comply in some of the rule of B.P 344. It doesnt
have ramps or elevators which is hard to access if you are a disabled person. In some cases, the
J.M.B building is slippery specially when there is rain because it doesnt have a tactile blocks on
the floor which will prevent the people from slipping.

In overall, the school almost doesnt comply to the rule of B.P 344 specially in
parking space for pwd and the curbs. They must full addressed this problem in order to build a
universal and good design for all types of people.
