Better light
in every respect.
Better for the environment.
Better for your customers.
Better for your business.
Innovative solutions from OSRAM.
Sustainability is the guiding principle.
As one of the worlds largest lamp manufacturers, OSRAM has a great respon-
sibility toward people and the environment. This company, which has a long
and proud history, is well aware of this responsibility. This is why sustainability
is at the heart of all OSRAMs actions.
OSRAM has been promoting environ-
And this is not just a recent development. Long before the European Union published the EuP
mental protection and sustainability
directive (Energy using Products) now superseded by the ErP directive (Energy related for many years with innovative
Products) for energy-saving lighting OSRAM had its focus on comprehensive environmental products and with production
processes that make efficient use of
protection measures. These measures included the economical use of resources, the develop-
resources. It was this commitment
ment, production and distribution of energy-saving lamps and systems, the large-scale reduc- that was rewarded with the 2008

Good for our climate and
good for your business.
The European implementation measures regulate the incremental phasing-out of energy-intensive light
sources over the next few years. There are already economical alternatives to almost any type of lamp.
After each phase-out date the relevant lamps must no longer be put into circulation in Europe. Lamps that are already in
circulation at this time in the EU may continue to be sold. OSRAM has a wide range of pioneering alternatives to cover almost
any application. This means you can offer your customers excellent alternatives with no compromise on the quality of light and
you have the perfect opportunity to benefit from the EU legislation. Switching to energy-efficient light sources very quickly
pays for itself. For the environment, your customers and therefore also for you.
The following table shows when the various products will be phased out:
1
There is an advanced phase-out for T12 lamps; not until 2012 according to legislators.
2
Current legislation indicates that these products will probably be phased out in 2016. Alternatives are already being developed.

New from 2010: Ban on inefficient fluorescent
and high-intensity discharge lamps.
Sustainable light also for the professional sector.
On April 13, 2010 as part of the implementation measure for EU ordinance 245/2009, there will be an incremental phasing-out
of products used mainly in street, industry and office lighting, namely inefficient fluorescent lamps and compact fluorescent
lamps with plug bases, high-intensity discharge lamps with E27, E40 and PGZ12 bases, as well as control gear and luminaires
for fluorescent lamps and high-intensity discharge lamps.

Ban on inefficient incandescent lamps.
High time for modern alternatives with added value.
On September 1, 2009 EU regulation 244/2009 defined energy efficiency criteria for incremental phasing out certain non-
directional household lamps. As a result, only frosted lamps with Energy Efficiency Index A1 may now be brought into circulation.
Clear lamps with more than 950 lm (corresponding to an 80 W incandescent lamp) must achieve at least Energy Efficiency
Class C, and ones with less than 950 lm at least Energy Efficiency Class E. Lamps in Energy Efficiency Classes F and G are
banned. Special lamps and reflector lamps are not affected by this regulation.

A varied range and clear overview.
The extensive OSRAM range offers energy-saving and pioneering alternatives to conventional lamps. To give you a clear
overview and ensure that you are always in a position to give your customers the best possible support we have compiled
replacement tables. These are shown on the next few pages together with all the relevant product data. You can quickly
find the ideal energy-saving solution and place an order.

The efficient alternatives to conventional fluorescent lamps.
Compared with standard fluorescent lamps, LUMILUX lamps from OSRAM offer much better color rendering, more light and
a longer service life. This allows longer replacement intervals and therefore lower maintenance costs. And the environment
also benefits thanks to the greatly reduced mercury content and full recyclability.
