GLOBAL WARMING

What is Global Warming?

Carbon Dioxide:
Up 406.94 parts per
million
Global
Temperature:
Up 1.7 degrees
Fahrenheit since 1880

Artic Ice:
Down 13.2 percent
per decade Most climate scientist agree the main cause of
the current global warming trend is human
expansion of the green house effect (Oreskes).
Land Ice: Green house effect is warming that results from
Down 286.0 the atmosphere trapping heat radiating from
gigatons per year Earth toward space.
We are facing a very rapid change in the
global temperature. Just last month
September 2017 it was .80 degrees Celsius
warmer than the average September since
1980. NASA has taken this information from
over 6,300 meteorological stations around
the world. This information is proof that
global warming is happening and is a threat
to life on Earth.
For centuries the carbon dioxide levels have
never been this high. Since the Industrial
Revolution started and we started to produce
energy from burning fossil fuels such as coal
and oil, carbon dioxide levels have spiked
significantly. No other species on Earth have
created such a threat to life as humans have in
the last 100 years.
With all this evidence around us that global
warming is a real threat, there are still people that
deny climate change is even happening. People of
Miami are already feeling the effect from global
warming. When ever high tides happen it floods
the city. They have constructed pumps to help
keep the water out of the city but that can only
help for a short amount of time you can not pump
out the ocean when it is constantly flooding the
city. Concerned citizens and activists are trying to
make a point to government, who are denying
global warming including the senator.
This picture represents what would happen
if the entire Greenland ice sheets were to
melt. It represent 6m or about 20 feet of sea
rise would flood these cities along the coast
line. Greenlands ice sheets contain enough
water to raise sea level by 5-7 meters or
(16-23feet). Even partial melting of these
ice sheets would cause sea levels to raise 3
feet.
The effects from global climate change are going
to be catastrophic. We are already seeing what
climate changes effects are, for example California
is having more frequent and severe wild fires.
Places all over the world that are suffering from
drought mainly because of deforestation. Tropical
storms are becoming more intense and
devastating. Just this year we have had multiple cat.
5 hurricanes hit land
Within just over a hundred
years our planet has heated
up 4 degrees Fahrenheit. The
picture in blue represents the
cooler planet before the
1900s. The image in red
shows our world in 2016 it is
much hotter then what it use
to be in a very short amount
of time.
One of the most biggest impact from global
warming is coral bleaching. Our ocean is
dying because of global warming without the
ocean there is no life. Our ocean absorbs 93%
of the heat created by global warming. With
our coral reefs there are no fish. The amount of
carbon dioxide the ocean is absorbing it is
making the water poison and creating the
water acidity very high. There is still time to
act but time is running out very quickly if we
dont change our ways soon we are going to
deal with very catastrophic consequences
