Statement on Organizational Ethics by Samantha ortiz


I understand the terms of ethics, is person way of being there morals, values and standard

behavior help us identify and define problems that we view issues differently vantage points and

provide us with decision making. As Leaders are critical of ethical performance of any

organization, they are responsible determining missions, values, developing structure and

creating ethical climates. Organizational ethics means to be a great leader that has great

leadership skills that show acts of fairness, compassion and caring, integrity, honor and best of

responsibility.

What ethical theory do you personally abide by? Utilitarianism is doing the greater good

for greatest number in other words doing the greater good for everyone it is based on premise

that ethical choices other types decision based on their outcomes. Justice as Fairness treating all

people the same per notions of fairness and justice. Justice and fairness is one of the main

important ethics that anyone can have to be successful everyone wants justice to do the right

thing. What does this theory advocate? The Utilitarianism theory advocate for the rightness of

doing the right thing. The justice and fairness advocate that it is important to do the right thing

treat people equally.

How did you come to develop your style of ethics? In my past experiences workplace

favoritism among employees which made me feel that its unfair. I think part of being an ethical

leader depends on remembering what it felt like to have a supervisor treat me unfairly. I will

have good habits that will foster virtuous behavior in my workplace due to my past experiences.

Another tool giving credit to others, teachers that have done outstanding with the children in the

school awarding them. Another tool I would love to use would be honesty, honesty is the best

policy. Every time we engaged in a habit telling the truth, giving credit to others, giving to the

less fortunate it leaves a trace. (512, Johnson). This habits will become second nature the more

we do them in our workplace the more it will be passed on to other employees. The tools

expected to use to keep myself virtuous when I am in charge. When I become an ethical leader in

my organization for say, principal of an elementary to keep myself virtuous, will immediately

react in ways that benefit themselves, others and the greater good. One of the tools I would have

to use would be fairness in the workplace treating everyone equal man or women will be treated

equal.

How would your personal ethics affect the way you interact with others, especially others

who may or may not share your ethical orientation and outlook? Communication is key of

having relations with our partners having a good listening skills to listen to their concerns.

Listening is very important it is mutual understanding of dialogue, understanding what kind of

listeners we are we can listen to improve our performance as listeners. Skillful listening is also

essential to processing the informational messages that make up technical dialogue. (112,

Johnson). I believe Im the kind of People oriented listener, because they put a priority on

maintaining relationships, caring concern and they dont judge. But they have weakness which is

overlooking faults by being overly involved. Having Dialogue, occurs between equal partners

who focus on understanding rather on being understood and together they come up with a

meaning. between coworker that doesnt understand my personal ethics believe I would affect

others that dont believe in farness with respect, I will try and understand their ethics also not just

mine for they are important to the organization. if they do not like my ethics behavior we can

handle something professionally and take ethical approaches to the situation.

How would your ethics influence your behavior as a leader? My ethics influence as a

leader are to have Fairness, respect and honesty. As a leader, I will be open minded e a great

listener and have great communication with my coworkers. What about as a follower? As a

follower, the same ethics apply followers become leaders and followers can influence leaders as

leader influence followers my ethics will remain the same to have respect, honesty and fairness

with everyone in the organization.

How would you help develop the ethics of the organization itself? The code of ethics I

would hold in my organization would be organizing great behavior, always have respect for each

other, and be honest, and have fairness in the workplace. To have ethical responsibilities to

organizational members to themselves, and to the employees. Responsibility to add value to the

organization ethical success have respect for everyone. Professional development to for the

company to go above standards to continue to be better, help others be successful and more

successful.

My conclusion, organizational ethics comes from personal behavior on how doing the

right thing means to you, treating others with respect. I understand now that ethics are important

to organization, because when you become a leader the steps you take are also being followed

leading a good moral example for my organization. Having Utilitarianism is doing the greater

good for everyone it is based on premise that ethical choices other types decision based on their

outcomes. Justice as Fairness treating everyone equal of fairness and justice. Ive come to

develop my style of ethics based on my experience and learned that having respect, honesty and

fairness is important you want to treat others as you wish to be treated.
