1) Purpose:

The purpose of this method statement is to define the sequence and

methodology for the Installation of Air Handling Units.

2) Scope:

This method statement is to describe systematically the procedure for the

Installation of Installation of Air Handling Units and conforms to the
requirements of contract documents and engineering specification.

3) References:

4) Responsibilities:

4.1 Project Engineer to coordinate all the site activities required for the
Installation according to the project specifications, manufacturer data
sheet and approved shop drawings.
4.2 Project engineer to liaise with Engineers and coordinate safety
procedures with Site Supervisors
4.3 Project engineer to ensure the planning of the procedure so that the
installation is carried out continuously.
4.4 Site engineer is responsible to coordinate and explain the work to be
carried out to the supervisors.
4.5 Site engineer to ensure the installation as per approved shop drawing,
specifications and recommendations.

4.6 Quality assurance representative is responsible for monitoring the

quality of work as per standard.
4.7 Storekeeper will verify all documents and forwarded the same as per
the requirements of the purchase order.
4.8 Storekeeper is responsible for proper management of storage as per
Manufacturer's recommendations.
4.9 Safety officer will ensure appropriate measures to avoid any
unexpected events.

5) Procedure:

5.1 Prior to Installation:

5.1.1 All equipment / materials received at site will be verified

against approved Material Submittal, inspected, handled and
stored in designated area and manufacturer recommendation
5.1.2 Check that no damage has occurred to Air Handling Units
during shipment/ handling.
5.1.3 Provide protective covering sheets over the item or keep the
manufacturer protective covering to the unit the time to move
the unit to required location.
5.1.4 All relevant approved shop drawings are available at site for
the execution of job.
5.1.5 Check work area for completion and safety before starting
installation work.

5.2 Air Handling Units Installation:

5.2.1 The Materials (AHU) received at site will be verified against

approved Material Submittals, inspected, handled and stored.
5.2.2 The AHU units and its accessories shall be checked to
ensure it is correctly packed to permit ease of handling.
5.2.3 Unpack the AHU Units and its accessories and check that the
items conform to are according to the purchase order and as
per the approved technical documents.

5.2.4 Adequate protection will be provided to prevent mechanical

damages during off loading.
5.2.5 Protection covering sheets are provided over the item or
alternatively keep the manufacturers protective over the unit
prior to moving the unit to its final location.
5.2.6 Off loading of AHU Units will be made in a storage area or at
the proper location according to the site conditions and
ensure the equipment is protected against damage or
misuse.
5.2.7 The storage area will be clean and free from foreign materials
to protect the equipment against damage.
5.2.8 Any damage or irregularity to the unit noticed on unpacking
will be informed to the proper authorities as per the standard
practice.
5.2.9 After verification of items it must be repacked using the
original protective covering.
5.2.10 When immediate installation is not possible, store the AHU
Units in a dry place and cover it with polyethylene sheets.
5.2.11 Verify the weight of AHU against the shipping documents of
the various section/unit before lifting.
5.2.12 All relevant approved shop drawings are available at site for
the execution of job.
5.2.13 The work area will be inspected for completion and safety to
start the installation work.
5.2.14 Concrete plinth of air handling units will be level and plumb,
according to manufacturers written instructions and
approved shop drawing.
5.2.15 Installation of units will be arranged to provide access space
clearances around air handling units for service and
maintenance.
5.2.16 Ensure the AHU Units are placed in the correct position by
checking the specified dimensions and clearances as shown
in approved shop drawing.
5.2.17 Install field wiring & isolator in accordance with local wiring
regulations & codes of practice.

5.2.18 Connection of wiring from isolator to the fan terminals to be

as per manufacturers and terminals to be tighten as per as
the recommended torque.
5.2.19 All electrical cables will be verified for proper connection as
per the approved shop drawing.

8) Safety:

9.1 All installation or construction works will be carried out in accordance

with the Project Safety Manual.
9.2 All necessary personnel protective equipment will be provided as per
requirements of the job.
9.3 Ensure the work site is kept clean and tidy.
9.4 All necessary permits shall be obtained from concerned authorities
wherever necessary.
9.5 Prior to commencing any activity, the labour force shall receive a
toolbox talk on the project site safety regulations. Any process that is

adopted that may have a particular safety risk will be assessed and
addresses as required.
9.6 Ensure that the usage of cranes, lifting items and working platforms
will be used in accordance with the Project Safety Manual.
