REAL - NETWORK OF INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AGRO-FOOD IN
NORTH OF PORTUGAL - GALICIA

HIGHLIGHTS
Creation of a Network of Sharing resources, information and knowledge as a way of
promoting innovation in the Agro-food sector

ABSTRACT
REAL - Network of Innovation and Technological Development Agro-Food in North of Portugal -
Galicia, created to promote the constitution of a technological base to support R & D transfer and
communication and dissemination of information that fosters innovation in the agro-food sector of
the region, assuming a strong factor of leverage to internationalization. The Network created will
be an opportunity center, in which companies influence the research lines of the agro-food sector,
in a perspective of solving the real problems of the industry. It also intends to make available the
technical-scientific knowledge developed by the Cross-Border Research Institutions and,
consequently, to facilitate its application in a business context, ensuring a permanent contact
between the various entities of the sector (Companies, Higher Education Institutions, Research
Centers).

To this end, this project includes the following actions: 1. establishment of a Technological Base
to support the network, based on new technologies; 2. formal establishment of an Innovation
Cooperation Network; 3. dissemination of information, research and technology transfer.

In this way, as expected results stand out: the creation of a network based on a Technology
Platform. Formalization of the network (Agreement); implementation of 4 sectoral workshops;
transfer of know-how to companies (Innovation); creation of an Innovation Transfer Office; to the
network of some 150 institutions and companies in the sector.
