The purpose of this letter is to express my intention of applying for Tenure in the Department of
Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences.
I started in this department as an Associate Professor (hire date of August 16, 2012). I completed my
Ph.D. in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences in June 1994 and then served for 20 years as a Director of
Audiology and subsequently as a VP, Clinical Services in a large hearing and speech clinic.
In the past 5 years since my hire, I have served this department in a number of roles. This includes
serving as an Associate Professor and subsequently as Professor when I was promoted in May, 2017. I
have served as Interim Clinic Director (May- September 2014) and filling that role again since
June 2017. And, as you are aware, I am currently the Chair of the Department of Hearing, Speech and
Language Sciences. I believe through my various roles, I have shown sufficient evidence of my teaching,
scholarly and service capabilities as well as the professional integrity required for Tenure.
In addition to this letter of intent, I am submitting my academic portfolio for review by you and the
Tenure & Promotion Committee highlighting work I have accomplished during the time frame I have
served in the department.
I welcome the opportunity to provide my continued support to this Institution, and I hope for a positive
response. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
