Derrick Engineering & Filing Preparation

General Planning Planning for Existing Buildings Planning for New Building
Assess weights and placements of loads Seek structural drawings of existing building Usually for dismantling tower crane and/or
Assess derrick model & configuration Seek/consult with building EOR mechanical picks
Determine derrick location Invasive probing/reinforcement may be Assembly is usually using tower crane
Support on structure necessary for support Removal is usually with construction hoist
Reach for pick and placements Access/means to get derrick and winch to Submit imposed loads early to project team
Assembly/disassembly space the roof and back to the ground to allow for reinforcement to be designed
Parking/laydown Vacancy below work area intrinsically
Determine winch location & support Coordinate with active building Submit layout/operational details to project
Assess building for support of loads Maintenance of waterproofing team to plan leave-outs and to coordinate
Assess access/means for assembly/disassembly Possibly utilize and/or leave column stubs with other trades
Determine pick zone for comebacks
Sufficient clearance from face of Master Rigger needed
building?
Over-swing of active/occupied space
Pedestrian/traffic control Filing
Research DOB approval status of derrick
Consider creating a controlled access zone CD1 (Prototype) application usually must be amended
around the winch CD2 (Registration) must be up-to-date for current configuration
Master/Tower Rigger needed for tower crane dismantling
CD4 (on-site) application must be consistent with CD2
C&D unit performs unassembled inspection of components on the roof
C&D unit performs assembled inspection & witnesses load test
CD6 (plumb & torque report) must be submitted
