HUMANITARIANISM:
Volunteer-Intern 2015 2017

o Partner with primary care community leaders within Cincinnati to improve healthcare for the community,
especially underserved and low-income populations.
o Volunteered 4 hours weekly, totaling over 380 hours, to mitigate or eliminate barriers to specialized care.
o Established a referral appointment tracking system, including processes for making appointment reminder
calls to patients, which resulted in improved appointment attendance and chart accuracy.
o Implemented a rank structure and provider-specific teams within the volunteer program, leading to better
communication between volunteers and improved scheduling and tracking of patient referral appointments.
o Spearheaded a voter registration event for the 2016 election, resulting in the registration of 20 Crossroad
Health Center patients.

University of Cincinnati International Service Trip (Granada, Nicaragua) Spring 2016


o Interdisciplinary and complete cultural immersion experience through the College of Allied Health Sciences
with students and faculty within the fields of nutrition, physical therapy, speech pathology and social work.
o Served food and provided nutrition education to over 300 children at the local soup kitchen within the
impoverished town of Pantanal.
o Provided screening for cardiovascular disease and diabetes by measuring blood glucose and blood pressure
of 60 adults within Pantanal.
o Shadowed physical therapists and speech pathologists while providing in-home rehabilitation services to 12
patients suffering with cerebral palsy.

o Embarked on three 6-month international humanitarian missions on the USNS Comfort, a 1,000-bed hospital-
ship, totaling 14 months within Central and South America and the Caribbean providing healthcare services.
