SUMMER OF SCHOOL YEAR 2016-2017


PREFACE
INTERNSHIP or Practicum (as prescribed by CHED per CMO No. 50, series of
2008) is a 3-unit course of the BSAT Program upon the completion of at least 80% of
courses in the entire curriculum.
This is an applied academic experience conducted under joint faculty and the
training supervisor of the partner industry/firm which requires a minimum of one
semester with a specified number of contact hours in the areas of accounting, internal
audit, or tax compliance activities.
The training/internship must include substantial and practical, including analysis,
evaluation and application of basic accounting and auditing concepts. Such activities,
tasks, responsibilities, learning experiences, training, and hours worked shall be
documented on a daily or weekly basis and subject to periodic review by both the training
provider and the program head of the sending institution.

Reports collated in a portfolio and to be submitted to the program head of the
college covers the following: a) description of the key tasks and responsibilities
performed during the internship, including their assessment of the most valuable things
learned; b) evaluation of the training and overall learning environment provided by the
firm; c) evaluation of their experience and how it has impacted their career goals; d) how
well the BSAT program prepared them for the internship program; e) any
recommendations for improvement of the program; and f) total number of hours worked
during the internship.
The internship shall culminate in a final evaluation prepared by the designated
training supervisor of the partner industry and the head of the BSAT program of the
college or institution. The student-intern will be given a grade at the end of the internship
with input from both the internship provider and the program head of the college.

HISTORY OF THE BSAT PROGRAM

- With the approval of the President, Dr. Delia C. Advincula, Ph.D, the
BSAT program was offered in 2012 in addition to the existing
programs of Davao Central College
- The then, Dean of Academics, Dr. Warlita C. Canque, Ed.D. and
Professor Salvador C. Sodusta Jr., CPA, MBA, facilitated the
program application with the Commission on Higher Education,
Region XI, and was initially approved and granted Permit to

Operate for First Year Level in accordance with CHED CMO No.
50, Series of 2008, and thereafter
- Being the youngest among the other programs, a total of 20 students
were the first to enroll in the BSAT Program during SY 2012-2013
- The number of enrollees continued to gradually increase during the
next school year and on the following year
- On the fourth year of its offering, a total of ___ students were
enrolled on all the four levels with twelve (12) students expected to
graduate
- In April, 2016, all the 12 made up the first batch of BSAT graduates
- That same year, the CHED had granted Government Recognition
No. ___ to the BSAT Program after satisfactorily complying with the
requirements
- Now on its fifth year in operation, another sixteen (16) students made
up the second batch of BSAT graduates
- As competition looms with the other program offerings as well as
with other college institutions around, BSAT continuously
endeavors to improve its facilities, technological trainings, and
extracurricular activities to attract more students
- With Gods Providence, the program continues to hope for more
enrollees taking up Accounting Technology and be among its line of
successful, highly-employable graduates.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Provide a foundation of knowledge and techniques, skills, values,


ethics and attitude for students to learn for life
Equip students with the basic skills for a successful accounting
career into the BPO and the accounting profession both locally and
globally
Develop self-confidence in communicating effectively both verbal
and write information at all organizational levels
Graduates develop a high regard for moral values and
professional ethics such as integrity, objectivity, confidentiality,
independence, professional behavior and competence
Prepare the students for eventual entry into the regular degree
program of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
Produce highly competent graduates that will contribute to
economic development and nation-building
