However, the first proposition of the theory suggests that the attainment of mental wellbeing depends on how the person defines it. It signifies the personal beliefs in attaining mental wellbeing relies on how the person understands or describes mental wellbeing. This proposition was first validated using autoethnography to determine the personal beliefs of the writer. The study reveals that the mind/thought has powerful functions in controlling our mood, physical reactions and behavioral responses. When a person is in panic attack, it is really difficult to control the mood and physical reactions once it started to manifest but if the main source of the problem which is the mind/thought is controlled, a positive coping is attained. Hence, the writer defines the Essence of Mental Wellbeing as having strong connections with God which helps develop the persons lifes meaning, sense of spirituality and inner peace thus, maintaining a positive state of mind causing an appropriate response to body, mood and behavior and able to cope with the normal and extremely stressful situations effectively.
