FROM FATHER RICH
Today’s readings, like last weekend, emphasize the importance of the virtue of humility in our
lives. Humble people are loved by others and by God. There are no favorites in the eyes of God.
“Have we not all one father? Did not one God create us?”. In the Gospel what counts for greatness is
if we serve. How far our world has wandered from the spirit of the Gospel. Let us use the “Litany of
Humility” to pray for the growth in humility and service.

From the desire of being esteemed,

Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being praised,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being despised,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I go unnoticed,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. God Bless! Fr. Rich

Did You Know?
Did you know that the Catholic values and faith that you teach your children at home are reinforced in Catho-
lic schools (including all extra-curricular activities) every moment of the day?
Did you know that through emphasis on service for others that is so much a part of Catholic schools, each stu-
dent learns the value of being Christ to others and grows in gratitude for their many blessings?
Consider a Catholic Education for Your Child

meeting.
Protecting God’s Children (Virtus)
It is Archdiocesan policy that anyone who works with children in a parish setting or parish school must attend
a Virtus training session and complete a background check before being allowed to do so. There will be a Pro-
tecting God’s Children (Virtus) training session held on Thursday, September 23rd from 6 – 9 p.m. in the school
library. If you wish to register for this session, you must do so online. Go to http://www.virtus.org, on the left
hand side of the page, click the yellow link labeled Registration and follow the prompts. Online registration
must take place before the session—walk-in registrations will not be accepted on the evening of the session.
If you have any questions regarding this program, please call the school office at 708 424-7757. Please note
that if you have already been through the Virtus Training Program, you do not need to repeat it in order to
work with children again this year.

in the Church. All parents are invited to join us at the Mass and the meeting afterwards.

OD KS. RYSZARDA
i narodów wschodniej Europy.
Jasnogórskiej Pani szukał pociechy, siły i przetrwania. Tutaj pisze się historia Narodu Polskiego. Naród
ten wdzięczny Maryi za Jej opiekę i wstawiennictwo ogłosił Ją swoją Królową w 1656 roku. Wielki
konfesjonałem Narodu, wieczernikiem Narodu i nową Kaną...”.
Podczas "potopu
szwedzkiego" 160 żołnierzy, 20 szlachciców ze służbą, 70 zakonników i wiele kobiet broniło Jasnej Góry
przed liczącą ponad 3 tysiące żołnierzy armią szwedzką pod dowództwem Burcharda Müllera. Obroną
Częstochowy kierował przeor Augustyn Kordecki. Oblężenie trwało 40 dni, od 18 listopada do nocy z 26
na 27 grudnia 1655 roku. Wojska szwedzkie poniosły dotkliwe straty. Udana obrona Jasnej Góry miała
dla Polaków wielkie moralne znaczenie. 1 kwietnia 1656 roku król Jan Kazimierz złożył uroczyste
ślubowanie w katedrze lwowskiej, poddał kraj pod władzę Matki Boskiej. Specjalny akt prawny ogłosił
wybór Marii Panny Królową i opiekunką Polski.
8 września 1717 roku na Jasnej Górze miała miejsce ogromnie ważna uroczystość - koronacja obrazu
Matki Boskiej Jasnogórskiej. Koronę ufundował król Polski August II Sas. Do Częstochowy przybyło
około 200 tysięcy pielgrzymów, liczba w owych czasach niespotykana. Obrzęd koronacji był bardzo
symboliczny - uznano go za ukoronowanie Matki Boskiej na Królową Polski. W październiku 1909 roku
skradziono dwie korony zdobiące obraz od prawie 200 lat i papież Pius X zdecydował ofiarować Matce
Najświętszej nowe korony. 22 maja 1910 roku odbyła się powtórna koronacja cudownego wizerunku.

O Ty, której obraz widać w każdej polskiej chacie

I w kościele, i w sklepiku, i w pysznej komnacie,
