AIIMS: OVERVIEW AND ELIGIBILITY


All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is the most coveted Medical College
and Medical Research University of India, located in New Delhi. AIIMS has
constantly been ranked at the top amongst all other medical colleges of the
country. The medical science here is highly advanced which is the reason
why AIIMS as a hospital witnesses so many patients from different corners
of the world. It is globally renowned and recognized for its technology driven
approach. This makes AIIMS the dream college for all the medical aspirants of
the country. The Institute was established in 1956 in Delhi and now operates
in seven more locations across the country namely Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar,
Jhajjar, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh and Jodhpur. AIIMS offers various best-in-class
medical graduation and post-graduation courses.

AIIMS Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who apply for AIIMS MBBS entrance exam are advised to read
the eligibility criteria to ascertain their age and qualification as required by
examination authority, AIIMS New Delhi.

AIIMS MBBS Eligibility Criteria are given below:

Nationality Candidates must be Indian nationals. Overseas Citizen of


India (OCI) are also eligible

Foreign candidates are not required to appear for the entrance


examination

Age:Candidates must complete 17 years at the time of admission or


will complete the age on or before December 31, 2017

Date of Birth:Candidates born on or after January 2, 2000 are not


eligible

Education Qualification:Applicants have passed the 12 Class with


English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects from Senior School
Certificate Examination (CSBE) or Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) or
same examination from a recognised University/ Board

Candidates who will appear for 10+2/HSC can also apply for AIIMS
MBBS 2017

General and OBC candidates must have passed 10+2/HSC in Physics,
Chemistry, Biology and English with 60% marks while for SC/ST the
qualifying marks is 50%.

Examination Pattern
Exam pattern is given below as per last year.
The competitive AIIMS Entrance Examination will have one paper consisting
of 200 Objective Type (Multiple Choice and Assertion-Reason type) questions
from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. The distribution of
questions is:

Marking Scheme

Each incorrect response will get a score of -1/3 (minus one-third).

Each correct response will get a score of 1 mark.

No credit will be given for the questions not answered.

More than one response will be treated as wrong answer and negatively
marked.
Cut-Off Score
Minimum qualifying marks is applicable in entrance exam as per decision taken
by AIIMS. Only if candidate gets marks equal or more than the qualifying marks
then merit is published.

Duration

The total duration of exam is 3.5 hours.

Language of Question Paper


Automated Question paper will be provided either in English or in Hindi
according to the choice of candidates. Applicants must choose/indicate in the
application form whether he/she prefers to have the question paper in English or
Hindi. This choice cannot be changed later at any stage.

Application Form

The online application procedure of AIIMS MBBS 2017 started from January
24, 2017 and continued till February 23, 2017. It was to be noted that the
application form could be submitted in online mode only and no any other mode
of application was to be accepted.

The cost of AIIMS MBBS application form was Rs. 1000 for General/OBC and
Rs. 800 for SC/ST category candidates. OPH Candidates were exempted from
paying the examination fee. The examination fee could be remitted through
Debit/Credit Card/Bank Challan along with applicable service tax.

Seats and Reservations (2017)

The entrance exam was conducted for a total of 700 MBBS seats in 7 AIIMS
institutes. Among the total seats 350 are for general and 189 are for OBC
category candidates. The table given below shows the AIIMS MBBS 2017 seats
& reservation criteria.

Entrance Exam Syllabus

The general standard of the Competitive Entrance Examination is that of 12th


class under the 10+2 scheme/Intermediate Science. No AIIMS MBBS Syllabus
has been prescribed by the Institute for the Examination.

The course of studies leading to the award of degree of Bachelor of Medicine


and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences
shall last for a minimum of five and a half academic years including one years
compulsory internship.
