participating in it. Stop terrorism and save Marawi!

Heavy firefights, explosions, airstrikes prompted by a raging gun battle between

government forces and members of the Maute group in Marawi City started on May 23, 2017 and
continue till today. The firefight between the two groups started when the government troops
raided the hideout of Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon in Marawi City. Hapilon calls for
reinforcement from Maute Group, which fought back the government forces.

The local terrorist group were based in Lanao del Sur has carried out several bombings and
kidnappings, and has been active in recent months. It has also pledged allegiance to international
terrorist group Islamic State (ISIS), carrying and raising ISIS black flags and insignia. The group,
which also calls itself Daulah Islamiyah, is led by Abdullah Maute, the eldest of the Maute brothers.
According to the Terrorism Research and Analysis Consortium, the brothers "went from petty
small-time criminals to full-fledged militant activity when they created Khalifa Islamiah Mindanao
in 2012." They are in the Marawi to fight for their sides that Islam should be approved in the
Philippines

The war affects not only the Marawi City but also the whole Philippines in different
perspectives. The Armed Forces of the Philippines has confirmed over 300 casualties in the 28th
day of the crisis in Marawi City. In a report issued by Joint Task Force Marawi, the body count
included 242 terrorists, 3 policemen, and 56 military personnel killed in action. There are also 26
civilians confirmed killed by terrorists.

In terms of social context, the religion gives emphasis on this issue. It is the one who control
the behavior why the Maute Group is acting on aggressive way. Because of the issue many Filipino
was afraid to fight for their rights and think that its better to behave and not to care anymore than
to do a certain action. The perception of Filipino from different province other than the Marawi
changes, it is because its in their mind that Marawi is connected to ISIS. The Marawi people have
less opportunity nowadays since they are the most affected, the opportunities is not in their forte.
Lastly, the fear that mold inside the heart of the Filipinos is always there even a little action is big
deal on us. We think that we are always in danger even though its not. We are over reacting on
different things. We create our own monsters.

In this world, there are different people with different perspectives and beliefs. When it
comes to religion, there was so much religion in the world that becomes a reason to start a chaos. In
Islam, Allah is the most powerful in the world while for Christians it is God. So, if people dont know
how to respect the beliefs of others it can cause many issues like what happened in Marawi City.
Theres also different ways on how to deal with children. In normal province a normal lives children
is just playing and studying with no problem at all. In contrast, Maute Group trained their soldier at
young age. Mindanao is well-known to have a disciplined people in the whole country, however
because of the war it is now known to be a ghost town and the image of the town changes.

The issue becomes a main reason in implementing the Martial Law in Mindanao. Wherein,
many of the Filipinos disagree on this proclamation because of what they experienced in Marcos
Administration and because on merely looking at the disadvantage of it. The economy and tourism
also decreases because of the casualty brought by the war.
 The war in Marawi City has different reasons that brought different effect on different point
of view. It is more in religion but it affects physically, mentally, psychological, social and economic
aspects of life.

Respect begets respect. It is very important to respect the beliefs of others so that they also
respect your beliefs as well. Islam is not the only religion exist in this world. Dont start any
terrorism because it brought us many consequences. Consequences that may you repent in the end.
Everything is cleared up with a good conversation. We dont have to be aggressive at all times, be
responsible enough. For the government, try to understand the sides and point of the Maute Group
because everyone has the right to express themselves. Try to give sympathy for other people
especially the people of Marawi City, they are innocent so they dont deserve it at all.
