"Thought Paper About the Introduction to Geography"

"Study of the earth". That was my definition of Geography before I've read some
articles about treating Geography as a discipline. I've also thought that Geography and
Geology are almost the same because they both start in "geo" which means earth. But
then I forgot to recognize that "ology" and "graphy" aren't the same, "ology" means 'to
find knowledge of land' while "graphy" means "to draw the land". There's a huge
difference between the two and although Geology is a science while Geography's not, it
does not mean that Geography has a lot less topics to talk about. In fact, Geography
can still be branched out into two types: Human Geography and Physical Geography.

With my little knowledge of these two branches of Geography, I would say that
Human Geography talks about the interaction of humans to our nature, while Physical
Geography talks about the understanding of humans with nature but I'm pretty sure that
these definition will change after this semester ends. Another thing that I've learned
from researching the topics in the "Introduction to Geography" part is the 5 main themes
of Geography which are: location, place, human environmental interaction, movement
and region. Each of those themes are important in analyzing a certain area. Lastly, I
also checked about map projections and found out that there hundreds of different
projections each of different use!

Although there are only a bunch of stuff I've learned when I was researching, I
am sure that a lot more will be added to my knowledge in Geography because of this
class. With these basic information that I've read, I know this can greatly help me learn
and understand what my professor's going to discuss in the future days.
